Reagan and Upton County fire units are responding to Benedum Gas Plant following a reported explosion. Initial reports are no injuries.
The gas plant is located just inside Upton County on RM-1555.
Initial reports are of 40-50 foot flames at the location.

Worried about a quarantine? New World screwworm movement restriction zones work much different than other infectious disease quarantines.

✅Animals can still move! Animals are able to move into and out of the zone as soon as they meet TAHC requirements.

✅Checkpoints are quick and simple! Trailers moving through an infested zone must stop at TAHC checkpoints. If animals are coming from outside of an infested zone and intend to keep moving through the zone to an address outside of the zone, they will receive educational outreach and be allowed to keep moving.

✅TAHC will work with you to avoid interrupting continuity of business! Call the TAHC as soon as you know you want to move animals out of an infested zone. We will schedule an inspection and advise you on how to meet requirements to keep your animals moving safely.

Congratulations to John Olen Weatherby on winning the Commissioner Precinct 2 position in today’s runoff election.
Weatherby defeated incumbent Tim Sellman by an 81-63 margin.
Weatherby will take office in January of 2027.
Thank you Commissioner Sellman for your years of service to Reagan County!

Today is Election Day in the Primary Runoff Election. Voting will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Reagan County Community Building.
There is none local race on the ballot in Reagan County on the Republican side with Incumbent Tim Sellman up against Challenger John Olen Weatherby for the Commissioner Precinct 2 seat.
Also on the ballot for the Republicans is the race for US Senate, Attorney General, Railroad Commissioner and Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals.
On the Democrat side there are two races: Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General.
