Canva is an amazing tool; truly. It’s easy, it’s fast, it’s fun, and it lets anyone create something that looks great. For DIY designs, it’s one of the best options out there.

But here’s the catch:
Canva only gets you so far unless you know the printer’s secrets; things like bleeds, margins, color settings, resolution, and how to export a real print‑ready PDF. When you know those pieces, your Canva design can look just as professional as something built in the big Adobe programs. (Please don't tell my Graphic Design department I said this.)

And when you don’t know those pieces… well…
To a print shop graphic designer, a Canva file is kind of like telling your hairstylist you used box dye.😆

We can work with it; absolutely, but there’s usually some fixing, adjusting, and rescuing involved.

Most people think Photoshop is the go‑to program for anything “design,” but here’s the truth: Photoshop is not meant for creating print‑ready artwork.

Photoshop works in pixels, which is perfect for editing photos; but not for producing the crisp, scalable, bleed‑accurate files commercial printers need. Print‑ready artwork requires vector shapes, clean text, proper bleeds, CMYK color, and high‑resolution output. Photoshop wasn’t built for that.

So what is Photoshop for?

Our photo restoration work began with a need we couldn’t ignore.

We’re seeing more Adobe Express files come through lately, and while we love the creativity, it’s not the tool for professional printing. Think of it like giving your kid a haircut with kitchen scissors: you can do it, but you probably won’t love the end results; and fixing it takes even more work.

Adobe Express exports low‑resolution RGB files with no bleeds, no vector text, and no print‑ready PDF options. These are foundational for great printing.

Great for social media, not great for postcards, banners, or anything that needs to look crisp in real life.
