Here is a demo of the recently introduced RT-201 silicon Sun Face, from Little Barrie in the UK, who I met when he was playing with The Black Keys.
The pedal is on all the time, he is just adjusting the guitar‘s volume k**b to get various shades of fuzz.

This is a SunFace with the RT-201 Silicon transistors. These transistors were made by General Electric in 1966 or 1976, in a small high quality metal can. The...

this is a low gain germanium based on a Dunlop JB artist pedal which is no longer available. people have been asking about this so I finally put some together and I think they came out great. You can find them on the buyanalogman website we have some ready to ship with sundial, power jack, and LED.

Here’s a great explanation of sunface options and usage.

We have some new transistor options:

NPN GERMANIUM British CV : We had some of these NOS transistors from 1976 in our stash, and saw that a British pedal builder who 's work I like was using them in a popular, expensive fuzz, so we finally tried them. The main benefit they have is normal polarity so you can use a daisy chain, though I still recommend isolated power. These sound similar to the RCA, nice brightness and decent cleanup, which gets bright and British sounding. The gain is pretty high, so best to use a touch of the CLEAN trimpot unless you want the full fuzz sound.

"new" RCA : made in 1967, same sound as the ones we have been using but don't have the temperature stability. Fairly high gain.
