Caught these Tessidera canary wood cups fresh out of finishing! So much beauty, so much character.

canary wood /kəˈnɛːri wʊd/ · noun

A South American hardwood, tri-toned and never twice the same — soft yellow from across the room, then a slow reveal of burnt orange, deep maroon, and warm earthen grain as you draw closer.(figurative) A material that lived a full life before it ever became a headphone — and carries that history into everything it resonates with.

We first found canary at Owl Hardwoods, just down the road here in Illinois. From a distance it almost looks understated. Up close, it doesn't hold anything back.

What's inherent to canary — what we can't add, and wouldn't want to:

The tri-toned grain. Yellow, orange, maroon, earth — all in a single cup, all drawn from the tree itself.

The buttery texture. It machines and finishes impossibly smooth, the way only a few woods ever do.

The voice. Wood doesn't just dress a headphone — it shapes the timbre. Canary lends its own warmth to the music.

The individuality. Every cup is its own piece. Natural variance isn't a flaw here — it's the whole point.

Heirloom-grade, by nature. Built to be passed down, and to keep telling its story long after.

It's a process, making wooden headphones. Each one is hand built in our production facility in Berwyn, IL. From the initial sourcing of the wood to assembling the headphone that will eventually make it to your home, a lot goes into this process.

Which is why, when an owner receives their headphones, it's a joyful moment for us. We know the waiting can be difficult, but we truly hope you feel that it was worth it once they've arrived to you and you've taken them out of their case to listen.
