Last night was a good reminder that kindness and grace is completely free, but it can mean so much to someone.

After spending the entire day moving, I realized around 9 PM that I needed more boxes for today.

My husband has been working mandatory overtime, so I’ve been handling most of the move myself. It has been soooooo much work, and I was exhausted. I needed a little pick me up to get me through the night. 😅

On the way home from Walmart, I saw Dunkin’s lights shining bright like a neon moon leading me home, and I decided that an iced coffee sounded like exactly what I needed. The kids were happy, and asked if they could get a little treat too.

I pulled into the drive thru around 9:45 PM, not realizing they closed at 10. The line was moving so slowly. When I finally reached the speaker, the employee kindly asked me to wait just a moment. I told him to take his time and he was totally fine!

We sat there with the windows down listening to AC/DC just enjoying the warm night air, and then I realized something, there was absolutely no reason to be impatient. We wasn’t in a hurry. We were just enjoying the moment. (Trying to teach myself that I don’t have to do everything at a racing speed).

When I finally got to the window, I noticed they were already mopping and getting ready to close. I apologized for coming so late and joked with the employee. I asked him if he had spit in my coffee. He laughed and assured me it was completely spit free.

Then he handed me my order… along with six sprinkle donuts and a bag of donut holes. I only ordered 3 donut holes and a sprinkle donut.

He told me he appreciated my kindness and that they would have had to throw them out anyway.

It was a reminder that very cashier, barista, server, and employee you encounter is a human being carrying things you know nothing about. A little patience, and a little grace, a little kindness goes a long way.

In a world that feels rushed and impatient, choose kindness anyway. You never know whose day you might brighten, or how God might use a small moment to remind you that kindness matters. ❤️

Sad that my husband won’t be home for dinner this evening.. however that means I can get pizza the right way.. with ham and pineapple 😉

I tried something new tonight! Mythical pizzas pizza bowls. I didn’t realize it didn’t have crust.🤣

Conquered two big ortho cases today. Even the surgeon made a comment and told me I’m doing very well.

I’m proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone and being brave enough to suck at something “new”.

I’ve been taking notes.

If you’re going to be something, be the best at it. It’ll take me a while, but I’m determined! I’m thankful for all the knowledgeable people who have taken the time to teach me along the way!

Next step, total joint replacements. 😅😅😅

A new coworker surprised me with a Dolly Parton hat today. I mentioned to her last week that I love Dolly. She said she saw this and had to grab it for me.

The simplest gestures mean so much to me. Because, no way you thought about me??🥺

In all the chaos and craziness in your own life, you thought about little ole ME?? Ahh! My heart.

I swear, you could write me a note and I’ll keep it forever. In fact, I have a whole tote full of notes and cards to prove that. 😂

It’s so funny to me how God speaks to me through motherhood. It’s almost like he says “why don’t you take your own advice there, missy??”

Yesterday the kids had dentist appointments. We went over Sleepy Creek mountain vs taking our normal route.

Miss Kaisley is at a very curious age, and I swear the questions never stop.

“Mom, where are we going?”
“I thought we were going to the dentist?”
“Are we getting your coffee first?”
“Mom, how long until we get there?”
“Is this a short cut??”
“Is the dentist going to brush my teeth?”
“We are still going to the dentist right??”
… and on. and on. and on.

I was starting to get a bit aggravated because I’m trying to listen to the music and she keeps talking over it to ask the silliest questions.

My answer to her final question hit me like a ton of bricks.

I said “yes Kaisley! We are GOING to the dentist, you’re spending all this time worrying, you’re forgetting to enjoy the pretty view!”. She replied “BUT I DONT KNOW THE WAY! 😩”.

She started panicking because she didn’t know how to get to the dentist office. However, she wasn’t the one driving. I was. I needed her to trust me. I already planned it out. I knew how things were going to go, even though she didn’t have all the answers she felt like she needed, she was going to be okay.

I wonder how many times when I’m praying about things I’m uncertain about and God thinks “would you just sit back and shut up?? I already have it all under control. I have a plan for you, just trust in me.” Yesterday it was like God told me “young lady, IM the one driving. Stop worrying.”

What are you worrying about currently that God has already planned the outcome for?

Unpopular opinion:

There is value in letting your kids watch you build your dreams instead of only letting them see the finished product.

Let them see you save money. Let them skip out on cake pops at Target. Let them see you choose needs over wants. Let them experience temporary living situations that aren’t exactly what they’re used to.

It teaches them gratitude. It teaches them patience. It teaches them respect for the things that they do have. It teaches them that success doesn’t happen overnight. Most importantly, it shows them that if you want something badly enough, you’re going to have to go through hell to get it sometimes, and that’s OKAY.

Comfort doesn’t create growth. Sometimes you have to throw yourself into the fire to find out what you’re truly capable of.

Your kids are watching you, no matter their age. You can tell them “hard work pays off”, but when they live it with you, you’re proving it to them.

My job as their mother is to prepare them for life after me. That won’t happen by just giving them everything they ask for and giving them a “perfect” life. They’re going to watch my husband and I build one. That way they’ll know exactly what to do when it’s their turn. 👏🏻

The farmhouse is a mess… there is random stuff everywhere, no matter how organized you try to be when you’re moving, it’s chaos. I’ll be thankful when this part is over and we are settled. Plus the kids are very confused and not grasping why mommy is packing up all their things in boxes. 😅😂

Had to lay on the cool floor with Shadow for a second. Totally worth all the dog hair on my shirt. He’s my emotional support buddy. ❤️

First day back to work!
Holy cow y’all, I have a pep in my step this morning. My mom gave me some Figs scrubs (iykyk), I got my new Brooks, my Apple Watch and my iced coffee and holy cow I feel like a healthcare professional! 🥳

This may seem small to some, but I’m telling you when you lose yourself in motherhood and forget who YOU are, it is so fulfilling to find her again. 🥹

I brought my Mustang to work today, I know it’s nothing to write home about, but again it’s ME! I was listing to some Nickleback and some Motley Crue this morning on my way to work and I just couldn’t help but to be so thankful for how life is going. I’m proud of myself. It’s intimidating going back to work. I’ve never been a great scrub tech because I haven’t had the chance to be consistent (was busy having babies lol). I’ve been a tech since 2018, but I feel like I’m stepping into a whole new world. I’m intimidated but also so excited to dedicate to my trade, learn it, and hopefully one day be the best at it.

Which had me thinking, I need to tell someone today, you don’t have to live your life to make others proud. As long as you love yourself, and are proud of yourself.. who you are as a person & what you’re doing.. that’s all you need. Let your happiness and kindness to others be your own validation. Don’t seek validation from others. Celebrate yourself and your own victories big or small. It’s a hard world out there, give yourself credit. You’re doing a great job. 🤍

I’m thankful that I have a small village that celebrates my victories (big or small) with me, though. 🤍
