While “artist” has been a part of my identity for what feels like my entire life, for the last 14 school years, “educator” has also been a part. What I’ve learned in the last few years, is how starkly clear it is to me that I go to work for my kids. They are the most important part of my job. To get the privilege of watching students blossom in their creativity, to get a front row seat in watching them grow from big kids to young adults… it’s pretty special.
I feel so very blessed to get a chance to inspire some young minds, to help them find their voice, confidence in their own ideas, a vision… it’s the part of my job that I’ll never get over. How cool.
Some years are harder than others. This one felt heavy on everyone, for a lot of reasons. We had to find the light.
These windows at our high school always look so interesting as the sun shines in. I like the way this one turned out.
Happy summer!
