Not sure if this is some form of synesthesia, but when I take a photograph of the world around me, pretty often specific songs pop up in my head, as if the visual immediately ties itself to a song in my head. The shapes, colors, textures, and overall feel or mood somehow demonstrate to me, what a visual version of certain songs might be.
Many times, this occurs at the instant I see the image, but sometimes it occurs after I’ve created the artwork. Often, the songs I choose for my pieces are songs I “see” either as I created or view the artwork myself.
As soon as I took the original image (3rd slide) I could hear Gossip, by Tame Impala. This has always been a thing for me. And I’m just now realizing that not everyone’s brain does this.
You can see how minimal my process is. Most of the time, it’s even less — generally I photograph exactly how I want to mirror and don’t even crop and do some quick basic edits, but in the moments I had in the same space with this animal, I snapped a few clean ones and said to myself, I’ll figure out my angles later.
Google is telling me it’s chromesthesia or auditory-visual synesthesia.
