It takes only a few minutes to add new sites to the simulator, whether it is you secret local launch or the site of an upcoming competition you wish to prepare for.

Cloudbase Game Labs, the creators of Freeflight Experience, would love to hear from you what features or capabilities you would like to see included in our future offerings. We know multiplayer support is important, but what else?

If you are following us, but not already using the software in your school or to improve your own skills, why not? What is holding you back? What would it take to get you on board?

If you are an instructor, what would make the software more effective for you when using it with your students?

How do you see yourself using a simulator? For personal use, to promote the sport in general, or as part of you instruction program?

Let us know in the comments.

After crossing Fandango pass, we drop deep into high terrain on the way north towards Lakeview. We found another pilot flying a Laminar and briefly climb together. On this virtual competition flight, we launched with 30 other pilots from Sugar, flying T3s, Laminars, Lightspeeds, and Combats toward a goal 100km north.

Heading over the back of Sugar Hill, Lakeview. Launch is in California, but we generally cross the state line into Oregon on XC's to the north and east. Lakeview is where I first broke the 100 mile mark. This Youtube video shows the site IRL. https://youtu.be/8QXiKj6Vcvg?si=nPQqnyfN6NwDECgA

The new "Wind Machine" fan array is now working with Freeflight Experience. 5 fans, 140mm diameter each are mounted at face level in front of the sim. The same HID (joystick) device that reads bar force, hang angle, VG position and simulator control buttons, now outputs a PWM signal linked to flight speed. The cool breeze not only adds immersion, but also helps with motion sickness. It all connects through a single USB, and is plug and play.

I am considering adding built in support for PWM fans into the new USB interface to FFE. I would likely use a pair of independently controlled fans, so both strength and apparent direction (from left or right) can be controlled by the simulation.

How much benefit do you think will be gained from adding real wind in your face, instead of just modeling the sound? For those using the sim to teach new students, do you think it matters if the wind from the fans is much less than what we experience IRL?

FYI, a cool breeze is known to reduce the effects of VR motion sickness.
