It's time for a Write Out! This Saturday, August 8, 10am-3pm, at the Ferndale Public Library. The address is 2125 Main St., should the building not be obvious as you drive through town.

There will be room for about 20 writers, so please invite friends who might want to get a taste for being part of this experience. I figure we'll stop writing at two and, if there are more than a few people, we'll split into groups of five or so and read what we've written.

Then, at 3, we'll be kicked out of there, so I suggest we go to the BBQ place and do our eating and celebrating there. I believe we can have lunch in the room, but you'll need to bring your own meal this time.

Comment below to let me know you're coming. If you're not my Facebook friend, why not? Being friends will make communication here easier, for one thing. :)

Big news coming about a special Write Out series for later this year. I'll post details as soon as I can.

Hello! Our first Write Out of 2015 will take place on January 17. We'll go to the Beach Store Cafe on Lummi Island, arriving about 10am, writing until 3, and sharing our work until about 4 at a happy hour. I'm negotiating a meal deal that will run $25 or a bit less. Space is limited, so confirm your interest here. First come, first served, with a waiting list. More details will come by email to those who sign up.

Seán Dwyer here with details on the Alaska Ferry Write Out! The probable experience will start on the ferry Friday, Sept. 12 at 6pm, with three nights in Ketchikan, and the return trip will have us home at 8am on Friday, Sept. 19. Lodging (single) and ferry (4 to a cabin) will run ABOUT $665 if you stay in the somewhat rustic hotel, with a nicer place running about $835. If we don't get four people of a particular gender, 2-berth sleeping quarters will make the trip run ABOUT $779/$949 for the same options. Space is limited, perhaps to as few as four per gender, though a willingness to rough it on the deck may make for more availability. Those who express serious interest will go on a list, and I can wait only a couple of days to make reservations, so you'll need to be able to make some arrangement to pay fairly soon. If the list seems long to you, sign up anyway, because there will be dropouts and perhaps more space than I think. And . . . GO!

For a couple of reasons, including reader requests (no, really), I've gotten off my butt and posted a blog review of the February weekend when I and 11 other writers hopped over to the Willows Inn to isolate ourselves and eat a lot. I hope you enjoy the post. http://dwyercafe.com/2014/06/13/write-out-field-trip-the-willows-inn/

When I started this blog just over a year ago, my first goal was to explore places where I could Write Out, because I often concentrate better on my work when I have a bit of background noise and n...

The April RWB/Dwyer Café Write Out Field Trip will take us to Birch Bay. Join us on April 26, 10-4 plus travel time, for a writing session and reading at the Bay Café Deli & Espresso, 7608 Birch Bay Drive, Blaine, WA. We'll have a private room shut off from the rest of the café, but you should NOT expect library-style quiet. There is no admission fee, but you should plan to buy an espresso drink in the morning, lunch, and perhaps an ice cream treat in the afternoon for the reading. It seems unlikely that we will be allowed to bring wine this time. You can, however, take a break to walk along Birch Bay. Check out the menu here: http://www.birchbaycafe.com/

The Write Out will be limited to ten writers (including Seán Dwyer, who just signed up). RSVP in the comments below. If you see nine names ahead of you, sign up anyway; Seán will create a waitlist.

Note that the trip is 24 miles each way (the better to keep you writing, my dears), so carpooling would be a wise thing. Seán can take three riders.

Opened on June 1, 2007, Bay Cafe at Birch Bay is recognized by our dedication to our local residents. Retro ambiance is the theme of the Cafe’ with photos and antiquities from day’s past. ...

This page is the brainchild of Butterbean Wilkins, so thank you, Allie! It's a good idea to place the Write Out activities of writers who belong to Red Wheelbarrow Writers and Whatcom Writers and Publishers under one umbrella. Since I'm the guy who herds the groups, I will run the page. Thanks for liking and reading!
