Did you know Pantone updated their Pantone + Colors with 336 more new color options in August? Are you trying to figure out how to access those new colors from the Adobe Creative Suite? Here's some help, but you will also need the Pantone Color Manager Software to make it work (free when registering a new product or $50 if not).

I have downloaded and installed PANTONE Color Manager software; however, the updated PANTONE PLUS SERIES or PANTONE FASHION + HOME libraries still do not show up within my Adobe and other products.

Seems like I've been using this little trick all week so I thought why not post about it. Ever need to pull images or charts from a Word document (.docx)? I thought so... Next time this comes up, try this. Change the file extension from .docx to .zip. Then, uncompress the folder and inside you will be presented with all of the native elements from the Word doc. Inside the folder labeled "word" you will see a "media" folder. Inside that are stored all of the native images that were placed into the Word document (at full resolution). Pretty cool trick, eh!

Ever need to output a beautifully designed, full-color project to grayscale? One of the wonderful new features of CS6 will help you do just that and it's fairly easy and painless. You can even preview in grayscale before you output to pdf.

InDesign CS6 makes it much easier to create a grayscale version of your document...if you can find it.

Okay, so it's an extremely goofy reason to like the new Creative Suite but, the menu panels have finally stopped yelling at us! Thanks for the u/l case Adobe. :)

So, I visited the land of Adobe last night to see what wondrous new things InDesign CS6 has to offer and I have to say they really have added some extremely handy features.

The Liquid Layout, ability to set text boxes to expand (or contract), PDF form creation and Alternate layout features are probably my favorite. The small (but needed) addition of the ability to see your top 10 (or more) recently used fonts at the top of the font list is a great new feature as well.

There is also a "set" of features that will allow you to have links to "master" text and images, etc. between documents. So, if you have a project that has multiple collateral pieces, they can share text/images and if you change something on the "Parent" the "Child" will let you know there has been and adjustment made and ask if you would like the same adjustment made to all documents. Plus, it will finally allow you to "back save" down to CS4 (or later)! I'd recommend checking it out, it looks like this will be one to upgrade to. :)
