This week’s view takes us above Isle of Palms, a coastal barrier island just outside Charleston known for its wide sandy beaches, oceanfront homes, and laid-back Lowcountry charm.
Originally known as Hunting Island and later Long Island, the island was first inhabited by the Sewee people before becoming a coastal retreat for Charleston visitors in the late 19th century.
