We regret to inform everyone that Firelight Computers will be moving service areas effective February 22nd 2024. We are relocating our personal lives therefore service area will also be transitioning.

We thank everyone who has shown support to my small business, the Washington area and area of Franklin County has provided an unexpected amount of demand and we have been able to cover and reasonably accommodate every request of service with extremely reasonable turn around times (avg. 2-3days). We are proud to have been a portion of the local community.

Firelight computers is moving to the Belle Missouri area, and will be covering Osage County, and portions of Maries County and Gasconade County. We hope for great things, and hope to build a client base similar to that of which we have had.

P.s. If you are reading this and currently are communicating with us regarding a repair or service do not fret we are not abandoning you, and will make sure to follow through with our services with you.

Just a public announcement, please do not use remote services or give anyone access your computer that you do not know in person. Only use reputable companies that are known locally for remote computer repair many online places that offer repairs are scams or will install viruses/malware.

Around the holidays we see a uptick in viruses scams and malware please be vigilant. Lastly if your computer is not running slowly and you are not having any issues, please do not try to fix things that don't need fixing for instance if your computer is running completely fine but you get a pop-up about a driver being out of date please do not update it unless it is a pop-up through your computer manufacturers software or a reputable source that tells you to ... Many driver update pop-ups such as PC help, or remote services again are usually scams or viruses do not give them credit card information

Is your old laptop or technology no longer connecting to the internet?

As Wi-Fi s*x becomes more and more popular and technology advances many older computers or older technology that connects to Wi-Fi can no longer connect properly. Service providers are now installing more Wi-Fi or mesh systems into people's houses. Many computers and other technology may not be equipped to handle Wi-Fi 6 especially if they are older than 2 years of age.

There are some ways to work around this, one is to install a mesh system or a different router that allows you to still run 2.4 GHz band dedicated, two is to utilize a second router that can determine the devices needs better such as an eero, wyze, or other brand of smart Wi-Fi routers.

The biggest problem with new routers that are coming out is that they are running bands of 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz together on one band and the router is attempting to figure out which band your device needs, however it is likely that it will switch back and forth continuously so the device will either not show that it is connected to the internet or may disconnect at random.
