Around 500 families joined us for the fifth Annual Community of Wellness Fair.

With 60 vendors from across Delaware, families connected with local resources while enjoying music, food, games, and time together.

Thank you to Appoquinimink School District, every partner, volunteer, and family who helped make the day possible. Seeing the community come together is why we keep doing this.

A student can follow a rule and still not learn from the moment.

Fear can stop a behavior quickly. Once the fear is gone, though, the motivation to make a different choice may disappear with it.

Discipline should leave students with something they can use next time.

What does the next adult need to know about this student?

“He’s always disruptive” gives them a label.

“He’s been calling out during independent work. A quiet check-in helped him get started yesterday” gives them something to work with.

When sharing context with a colleague, include what happened, what was tried, and what helped.

That gives the next adult a place to start and the student room to be seen beyond a difficult moment.

A student returns to class from the office. The lesson has moved on. Everyone looks up.

What happens next deserves a careful plan.

A quiet welcome and a clear place to start can make returning less awkward: “We’re on question three. I’ll help you catch up.”

Any conversation about what happened can happen privately, at an agreed time.

Coming back to class should give the student a real opportunity to participate again.

Defiance can look like a student refusing, arguing, or pushing back.

Sometimes the behavior is less about the request itself and more about what the moment feels like: pressure, loss of control, or not feeling heard.

The response still needs a boundary, but understanding what is driving the pushback can help us choose one that keeps the student in the conversation.

In just 20 school days, educators using our app have recorded about 6,000 Highfives to recognize students’ positive behavior.

Each one marks something an adult noticed and took the time to acknowledge.

Positive recognition deserves the same attention as corrective feedback.

Some students get stuck on the first plan, first answer, or first reaction.

Cognitive flexibility helps them shift gears, consider another option, and adjust when something is not working.

That skill matters during conflict, correction, and problem-solving.

Sometimes the goal is simply helping a student see that there is more than one way forward.

Community grows when families and local partners have a chance to come together.

Join us at the annual Community of Wellness Fair for resources, food, music, entertainment, and activities for all ages. From community vendors to a gaming truck and bounce houses, there will be plenty to explore.

Hosted by the Restorative Community Schools / Highfive team and Appoquinimink School District, this is a day to connect with neighbors and celebrate our community.

A clearer next step can make a difficult moment more manageable.

Teachers need a next step when the same behavior keeps returning. School leaders need enough context to understand where help is needed.

Highfive Classroom connects those needs, making room for both the moments that need support and the progress worth recognizing.

It’s built around a shared goal: helping educators respond with clarity, keep relationships strong, and make discipline a chance to learn.

Swipe for a look at how it works.

Relational accountability keeps the student in the conversation.

A student can take responsibility without being pushed out, shamed, or reduced to one mistake.

The goal is to help them understand what happened, who was affected, and what needs to happen next.

Accountability works better when the student still feels connected enough to reflect, repair, and try again.
