I'm sure you've heard the term "Phishing" before, but it's time for a refresher. Wikipedia says, "Phishing is the attempt to obtain sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details (and sometimes, indirectly, money), often for malicious reasons, by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication."

But what does that mean in everyday life? It means someone is going to try to trick you into giving information that you shouldn't.

The most recent instance we have seen of this was from a website. Our client received a message stating they had a virus, and would need to call a number for help. Unfortunately, the people at that number would have actually installed the virus (most likely a type of Cryptolocker), then charged to remove it.

Luckily, they called us first to be sure. We have procedures in place to handle this, and helped our client through the issue without a problem.

Today's Business Tip: Today’s businesses need to recognize that customer loyalty goes a long way. Re-evaluate your approach to customer service. If you are restaurant, take the time and effort to provide meals based on dietary needs or allergies. If you are a service facility, have a nice waiting room with a working television and coffee or water. Use social media to provide specials to loyal customers to keep them coming back.
