Every month we get handed a fresh calendar and immediately start asking ourselves what we need to DO.

What if we started by asking who we want to BE?

One of the reasons I love journaling is that it gives me a chance to pause before the month takes off running. Before the appointments, the deadlines, the responsibilities, and the inevitable "Mom, watch this!" moments begin piling up.

The truth is, what blooms above the surface is usually a reflection of what has been happening beneath it all along.

If we are constantly running on empty, ignoring our needs, and stretching ourselves too thin, eventually our roots feel it. If we create space for reflection, intention, and awareness, our growth starts to look different too.

That is exactly why I put together these five prompts. Not to help you create the perfect month, but to help you create a more intentional one.

Grab your favorite journal, a cup of coffee, tea, or whatever is keeping you upright today, and spend a few quiet minutes with these questions. You might be surprised by what comes up.

And when you're done, come back and tell me:

🌿 Which prompt made you stop and think the longest?

Drop the number in the comments. I'd love to know which one planted the biggest seed for you.

Ambition is wanting to build something meaningful 🌿

Burnout is realizing you have not had a coherent thought in 3 business days because your brain has been running entirely on caffeine, cortisol, and “I’ll deal with it later” ☕😅

Those are NOT the same thing.

I think somewhere along the way, a lot of founders got taught that being exhausted all the time means you care more. Like if you are not answering emails half asleep, mentally buffering every time you open your laptop, and functioning as your own assistant, marketing team, customer service department, therapist, and emotional support raccoon… are you even trying hard enough?

But wanting growth is healthy.
Wanting success is healthy.
Caring deeply about your business is healthy.

Your ambition should not cost you your peace, your relationships, your nervous system, or your entire personality in the process.

and I have been having SO many conversations about this behind the scenes lately while working on something new 👀

Something built around sustainable work, real human capacity, and systems that support the human running the business too.

Because businesses grow better when their roots are supported.

Drop a 🌱 if you are done treating burnout like a personality trait.

You should not need burnout to prove you care about your business 🌿

Before you plan next week, try this first:

Grab a notebook and split a page into 3 sections:
🌱 What actually NEEDS my attention?
🌱 What feels urgent but can wait?
🌱 What am I carrying that was never mine to carry in the first place?

Because honestly? Half the mental load of entrepreneurship is not even the tasks themselves. It is trying to keep 47 tabs, random ideas, client notes, grocery lists, emotional baggage, and “don’t forget this later” thoughts alive in your brain at the exact same time ☕😅

The internet loves to romanticize burnout like it is some kind of badge of honor for ambitious women. Meanwhile your nervous system is over there holding on by a crispy little root.

You deserve support.
You deserve systems that actually work with your real human capacity.
And you deserve to build something meaningful without self abandoning in the process 🪴

There has been something really exciting rooting behind the scenes lately and I genuinely cannot wait to share more soon 👀

Drop a 🌱 if your brain has been running on caffeine, chaos, and pure survival mode lately.

Somewhere along the line, burnout got mistaken for ambition.

People are out here answering emails while mentally rewriting their to-do list, trying to remember six ideas at once, regulating everyone else’s emotions, and pretending the 37 open tabs are “part of the process.”

Then we wonder why our nervous systems feel crispy.

A lot of founders are not struggling because they are lazy or unmotivated. They are trying to build businesses with brains that have been overloaded for way too long. Hustle culture keeps handing out productivity advice when what people actually need is support, structure, sustainable systems, and space to actually process what is happening.

Honestly, this conversation has been growing roots into something really exciting behind the scenes lately 👀🪴

Something designed for real human capacity.
Something that helps untangle the mental vines instead of adding more pressure.
Something that supports the human running the business, not just the business itself.

Because growth should not require self abandonment to survive.

Drop a 🌱 if your brain currently sounds like a browser tab playing mysterious music somewhere in the background.

Half the reason founders are overwhelmed is because we keep trying to run businesses like houseplants surviving in a closet with no water and pure delusion ☕🌿

Most systems are built for fantasy productivity land where everyone apparently wakes up hydrated, focused, emotionally regulated, and ready to color code their life at 5am.

Meanwhile the rest of us are running six tabs, twelve responsibilities, a nervous system held together with caffeine, and at least one forgotten sticky note.

Something new is rooting soon for the founders who are tired of pretending “just try harder” is a sustainable business plan.

Drop a 🌱 if your browser tabs are currently a cry for help.

At this point, digital journaling is just me opening a cute notebook to discover I have apparently been ignoring my own thoughts for 2-3 business weeks 🌿😅

Nothing says “growth” quite like trying to make a sticker spread and accidentally uncovering emotional debris sitting in the soil underneath it.

Honestly though? That is why I love brain dump journaling.

Messy thoughts still deserve somewhere to land 🪴

What is YOUR most unhinged digital journal moment? 👀

Some of y’all do not need another self care routine

You need people to stop touching you, asking you questions from another room, and needing a snack every 14 seconds 😅

Because realistically? A face mask and a motivational quote are not fixing a nervous system that has been running on survival mode and stale goldfish crackers.

A lot of “wellness” advice sounds amazing until you try planting it in real life soil.

That is why I will choose tiny grounding rituals over impossible Pinterest morning routines every single time

Less “optimize your life.”
More “maybe sit in silence for 8 minutes before someone screams MOM through the bathroom door.”

What is one self care habit you are officially composting?

Most audiences do not need more content

They need better support, better pacing, and an experience people actually come BACK to.

That is why client projects inside Leaf & Latch Studio start with strategy first, not “what colors are we using?” 😅

We talk through overwhelm, audience behavior, emotional connection, friction points, and where people are most likely to stop engaging.

Then we build the journal around real humans, not fantasy productivity robots running on green juice and blind optimism.

And honestly? Hearing clients say things like:
“it helped attendees integrate what they learned”
“it strengthened the emotional experience”
“it helped differentiate the summit from others”

…that is the good stuff

Somewhere along the way, hustle culture convinced people that being constantly overwhelmed was a personality trait instead of a warning light.

Like if you’re exhausted enough, anxious enough, over-caffeinated enough, and running purely on survival mode… congratulations babe, you’re “serious” about your business now 😅

Meanwhile your nervous system is over there waving a tiny white flag from the compost pile.

The truth is, you cannot build sustainable growth from chronically depleted soil. Your body impacts your focus, creativity, consistency, emotional regulation, decision making, and honestly… whether you can even think straight long enough to answer an email without opening 14 other tabs first.

Ask me how I know 🌿

This is exactly why Leaf & Latch talks so much about self-awareness, capacity, rituals, and sustainable growth. Because strategy that ignores the human running the business usually falls apart the second real life starts real lifing.

You are not lazy for needing rest.
You are not failing because your nervous system is overloaded.
And burnout is definitely not a business plan.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is regulate before you try to “optimize.”

What’s one thing your nervous system has been trying to tell you lately?

I almost skipped that room.

Not because I didn’t care. Not because I didn’t want growth badly enough. But because life was loud, my confidence was hanging on by a root thread, and convincing myself to stay comfortable felt way easier than taking the risk.

And honestly? I think a lot of us do that.

We wait until we feel “ready.” More confident. More experienced. Less overwhelmed. Less busy. Less messy.

Meanwhile growth is usually over there like: “cool story… anyway, jump.”

Getting involved with introduced me to people I genuinely never would’ve crossed paths with otherwise. One of those humans was Jenn Mullen from .

What started as “we should collab sometime” slowly grew roots.

Now it’s strategy calls, support, friendship, custom journal design, and a partnership I’m incredibly grateful for.

That’s the wild thing about getting in the room. Sometimes you walk in looking for inspiration and walk out with opportunities, alignment, community, and people who truly get it.

In the words of Hayley Luckadoo, “You never know who’s in that room.”

Turns out she was very, very right 🌱

What’s one opportunity you almost talked yourself out of?
