Dove Season Is Here! Please Shoot Responsibly

As dove season gets underway here in Texas, we want to remind everyone of something extremely important: shooting toward power lines, utility poles, or other utility infrastructure is illegal, dangerous, and can cause serious damage to the services our communities rely on. Unfortunately, this isn’t just a safety reminder for us, we are currently dealing with the consequences.

📸 The photos below show recent damage to our fiber line around the Edna area. Shotgun pellets can damage fragile fiber-optic cables, and that damage can result in outages and service issues for customers. We are working to address the damage, and we are in contact with the local game warden regarding these incidents, which will be investigated. Incidents like this can affect internet service for more than just the person who was out hunting.

⚠️ Why shooting near utility infrastructure is so dangerous ⚠️

🔥 Fire Risk: A stray shot can damage electrical equipment or create an electrical arc, potentially igniting dry grass and causing a wildfire.

⚡ Electrocution Risk: Damaging power lines or utility equipment can create extremely dangerous conditions and can result in serious injury or death.

🌐 Internet Outages: Shotgun pellets can damage fiber-optic cables and other communications infrastructure, disrupting internet service for homes and businesses.

💰 Expensive Damage: Repairs to utility and communications infrastructure can cost thousands of dollars, and those responsible may be held financially liable.

🚔 Legal Consequences: Shooting at or damaging utility infrastructure can result in criminal charges, fines, and other legal consequences.

Please help us prevent another incident!

Never use utility poles or power lines as a backdrop when shooting. Do not shoot at birds sitting on power lines, and never place deer stands, cameras, decoys, or other equipment on or around utility infrastructure. What may seem like an easy shot can have serious consequences for you, your neighbors, and the entire community.

Please enjoy dove season safely and responsibly. Look beyond your target and know what is behind it. We appreciate everyone's help in protecting our infrastructure and keeping our communities safe!

Congratulations Roland! Thank you for keeping us rolling! 🛻⚡️

After nearly 18 years with JEC, we are celebrating the retirement of Roland Skoruppa, a valued member of our team, who has played an important role in keeping our operation running smoothly through years of growth and change.

He joined the company in 2008 as our fleet mechanic and quickly became an essential part of our team. Over the years, he has worked tirelessly to maintain our equipment, keep our fleet dependable, and help ensure our crews have what they need to get the job done. As our company has grown over the past decade, so has the responsibility of maintaining our equipment; and he has consistently met that challenge with dedication and expertise.

His knowledge and experience have also made a lasting impact on the people he has worked alongside. PJ Matocha, his fellow mechanic shared, “He is a man full of knowledge and will be greatly missed. It's been a pleasure working with him over the years and being able to learn from him.”

We are grateful for the many years of hard work, dedication, and knowledge he has given to our company. His contributions have helped shape our operation, and his presence will certainly be missed.

Please join us in congratulating him on his retirement and wishing him all the best in this next chapter. Thank you for nearly 18 years of service!
