This may be the strangest business analogy I ever post. ๐ข
See that turtle?
He is INSIDE the passenger seat of my car.
Not under it.
Not underneath the car.
Not somewhere you could see by sticking your head down there and looking around.
Somehow this stealthy little dude got into my car, climbed UNDER the passenger seat, found an opening, and then CLIMBED UP INSIDE THE SEAT into the cooling system for the A/C seats.
First of allโฆ
TURTLES CLIMB?!
Second, HOW?! ๐
I have absolutely no idea what his original plan was.
Iโm assuming he found an opening and thought, Yep. Letโs see where this goes.
So he kept going.
And going.
And going.
Until eventually heโd gotten himself somewhere he definitely didnโt intend to be and couldnโt figure out how to get back out.
And naturally my business-strategist brain went:
Well, if that isnโt small business ownership sometimes. ๐
We start with perfectly good intentions.
Add another service.
Sign up for another piece of software.
Try another marketing idea.
Say yes to another opportunity.
Keep going because every decision seemed perfectly reasonable when we made it.
Then one day we look around and realizeโฆ
Crap. How the hell did I get in here?
Thatโs the thing about getting stuck in business.
Usually there wasnโt one giant terrible decision.
It was a whole bunch of little decisions that led you farther and farther into the A/C-cooled passenger seat.
Sometimes you need someone on the outside who can look at the whole mess, figure out how you got there, and help you find your way back out.
If your business is currently somewhere inside the passenger seat and youโre not entirely sure how you got there, come talk to me. ๐
