I’ve got a new toy at 5 Horizons… and it’s a pretty cool one.

I can now print directly onto things like keychains, luggage tags, challenge coins, tumblers, metal cards, leather patches, and more. Full color, really detailed, and very durable.

So if you’ve ever thought:
“That would be cool if my logo was on that…”
or
“That would make a great gift…”

I can probably make it happen now.

My coffee is somewhere in there! This is what 1500 signs for a hospital expansion project looks like. Time to QC each one and arrange in the installation order. Another 1500 are in production for another hospital expansion at the same time.

Yesteday I wrapped up installing new signage at UW Health’s Cancer Treatment Symptom Management Clinic at Eastpark Medical Center.

This clinic is an important part of the cancer journey. It’s focused not on treating the disease itself, but on helping patients manage the side effects of treatment - pain, fatigue, nausea, anxiety, and other symptoms that can make an already difficult time even harder.

Good signage matters here. When someone is dealing with cancer, the last thing they should have to worry about is getting lost or feeling overwhelmed the moment they walk in the door. Clear, calm, easy-to-follow wayfinding helps reduce stress and lets patients focus on what really matters: their care.

Proud to play a small role in a space that provides comfort, dignity, and support when people need it most.

Last night and early this morning I installed this sign package. The goal was to have no patient interruption. Here are a few sample pictures. There were 7 overhead signs hung by cable systems, 5 soffit mounted signs, painted dimensional lettering, and 35 sign frame inserts. Thanks to EP Graphics for printing the inserts that perfectly match the painted frames.

Healthcare Signage Is More Than Just a Sign

In a healthcare setting, good signage saves time, reduces stress, and can even save lives.

From anxious patients trying to find radiology, to a nurse navigating quickly to a critical care room—every second and every step matters.

That’s why a clear, consistent, and well-maintained signage system across all buildings in a healthcare network is essential.

✅ Systemwide Consistency: Patients should experience the same logic in signage whether they’re at the main hospital, a clinic, or a specialty center. Room numbering, terminology, and directional cues all need to work together.

✅ Integrated Wayfinding: Signage is just one piece. Maps, digital directories, staff directions, and exterior markings all need to speak the same “language.”

✅ Ongoing Maintenance: A signage system isn’t “set and forget.” Renovations, department moves, and code changes require ongoing updates. A digital tracking system (like SignAgent) ensures signs are logged, located, and updated as changes occur.

Clear wayfinding isn’t just helpful—it’s a critical part of the patient experience and a sign of an organization that cares.
