Nearly twelve years ago we opened our doors at 103 Knox Street. Man, how time flies. There have been a lot of late nights and early mornings, which have earned me a few more grey hairs and several wrinkles. When I first decided to open this shop, I was asked more times than I can count if I was sure I wanted to do this, and if I understood that most businesses fail within the first two years. I was also asked if I had any experience in running a business. I was told that they’d hate to see me, several months later, emptying everything out because the business couldn’t be kept afloat. When I was still in the deciding stage of whether or not I should give it a try, I sat in one of the pocket parks on the square one evening and actually stopped random people who were walking by to ask them how they thought a coffee shop would fare in Barbourville, just to get opinions. Every person I asked said it wouldn’t work. I don’t claim to be a great success story, and it certainly hasn’t been a cake walk, but wouldn’t I like to shake the hands of some of those that doubted me and my vision, and offer them a cup of coffee on me. I couldn’t be more proud of this community and not a day goes by that I’m not grateful for each and every one of you who walk through my door and the extraordinary friendships that this place has cultivated. I just want to say thank-you. Sending so much love out to all of you. We wouldn’t be here without our loyal customers.
