🚨 AI isn’t just accelerating cyberattacks. It’s changing how hackers think and operate.

In our recent AI cybersecurity webinar, I asked Sean Nobles, President of NaviSec and OSCP-certified cybersecurity expert:

“What has AI actually changed for attackers?”

The answer? Faster vulnerability discovery, smarter and more adaptive attacks, and less time for defenders to react.

⚡ The real question: Can cybersecurity defenses evolve as fast as AI-powered threats?

At Vijilan, we believe the answer lies in combining AI-driven detection with human expertise.

🎥 Missed Our Live Panel? The Recording Is Now Available!

Who's Accountable at Machine Speed?

AI is transforming cybersecurity, but when machines make decisions in seconds, who takes responsibility for the consequences?

On October 8, Vijilan Security brought together cybersecurity leaders for a candid discussion on one of the industry's most pressing questions: Where should AI-driven automation end and human judgment begin?

Our expert panel explored:
🔹 The balance between autonomous security and human oversight
🔹 When automated threat response should require human approval
🔹 The risks and accountability behind AI-driven decisions
🔹 What security leaders should demand from autonomous SOC solutions

A big thank you to our panelists, Curt Aubley, Sean Nobles, and Dominic G., and our moderator, Kevin Nejad, for sharing their perspectives and insights!

👏 Thank you as well to everyone who joined us live!

🚨 TOMORROW at 1:00 PM ET

AI can move at machine speed. But when should it stop and let a person make the call?

Join us Thursday, October 8, from 1:00–2:00 PM ET for Who’s Accountable at Machine Speed?

Curt Aubley, Sean Nobles, and Dominic G. will discuss where AI belongs in the SOC, where human judgment still matters, and who should be accountable when automated decisions have real consequences.

Got a real-world AI or SOC scenario you’re wrestling with? Bring it to the conversation.

🚨 BIG NEWS: Vijilan is heading to Barcelona!

We’re excited to announce that Vijilan is a proud sponsor of Fal.Con Europe 2026, taking place November 2–4 at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona.

Together with CrowdStrike and cybersecurity leaders from across the globe, we’re looking forward to connecting with the community, exchanging ideas, and exploring what’s next in managed security and threat detection.

For Vijilan, this is more than an event. It’s an opportunity to strengthen the partnerships and technologies that help MSPs and MSSPs deliver better security outcomes for their customers.

Human oversight adds confidence. But it also adds time and cost.

As SOCs adopt more AI and automation, security leaders face a difficult question:

Which decisions actually need a human in the loop?

Requiring analyst approval for every action can limit the speed and scale automation promises. But allowing AI to act independently can introduce a different kind of risk.

The challenge is finding the right balance.

Which actions justify the cost of human review?
Which can safely happen at machine speed?
And what happens as the volume of automated decisions grows?

We’re bringing this conversation to our upcoming live panel, Who’s Accountable at Machine Speed?

The future of the SOC isn’t simply human vs. AI. It’s deciding where human judgment matters most.

When AI makes a security decision, who owns the outcome?

As SOC automation becomes more autonomous, accountability becomes just as important as speed.

If AI isolates an endpoint, disables an account, or blocks activity automatically, organizations may need to answer important questions:

🔹 What triggered the decision?
🔹 What evidence did the system use?
🔹 Who authorized that level of autonomy?
🔹 Can the action and decision-making process be reconstructed afterward?

These questions matter when security teams need to explain their controls and decisions to leadership, auditors, insurers, and other stakeholders.

The challenge isn’t simply deciding what AI can do.

It’s deciding how organizations stay accountable for what AI does.

We’ll explore this and more during our live panel, Who’s Accountable at Machine Speed?, featuring enterprise CISOs and MSSP CEOs.

How much autonomy should AI really have in the SOC?

Not every security decision requires the same level of automation. One way to think about it is through four levels of SOC autonomy:

👁️ OBSERVE
AI monitors activity and identifies potential threats.

🔎 ENRICH
It adds context, correlates signals, and helps analysts understand what’s happening.

💡 RECOMMEND
AI suggests the next best action, but a human makes the decision.

⚡ ACT
The system takes action automatically, such as isolating an endpoint or blocking suspicious activity.

The first three levels can make analysts faster and better informed.

But ACT raises a bigger question:

When should AI be trusted to take action without human approval, and who is accountable when it gets that decision wrong?

That’s one of the questions we’ll tackle during Who’s Accountable at Machine Speed?, our upcoming live panel with enterprise CISOs and MSSP CEOs.
