“Everybody else has one” tells you what other families are doing. It doesn't tell you whether your child is ready.

Before buying a first phone, ask:
• Can they look after it responsibly?
• Can they follow the rules you set for using it?
• Are you making the decision around their maturity, or pressure to keep up?

Patriot Mobile CMO Scott Coburn says he and his wife felt that pressure too. His advice is to look at your child's maturity before deciding it's time. You would set rules before handing over a bicycle. A phone deserves the same thought.

What people consistently buy can change what stores put on their shelves.

Reuters reported on September 12 that Canadian shoppers choosing more domestic goods were prompting grocers to improve origin labels, find different suppliers and stock more Canadian products.

At one regional grocer, about 90% of produce was Canadian. That figure describes those stores, not the whole country.

There’s a useful lesson here for Americans: when we make American-made products part of our regular shopping, we give retailers a reason to carry more of them.

If you ask a shopping assistant for American-made products, you should be able to trust the answer.

On September 17, Senators Tammy Baldwin and Rick Scott asked the FTC to investigate Amazon and Walmart’s AI shopping tools. Their request followed a report alleging that the tools failed to consistently recommend US-made goods when shoppers asked for them, and did not proactively flag some questionable origin claims.

These are allegations behind a request for an investigation, not an FTC finding.

Christians deserve better than this.

In the Instagram video shared by Josh Seiter (), YETI’s AI design tool accepted prompts for Allah and Muhammad but rejected “Jesus Christ.”

YETI said its AI classified Jesus Christ as a public figure and blocked the request under its publicity-rights rules. The company said normal text customisation still allows “Jesus Christ” and that it was updating the tool to correct the discrepancy.

Fair treatment shouldn’t take a public backlash. We expect YETI to fix this and other companies to prevent the same failures.

Up to 300,000 metric tons of foreign ground beef, tariff-free, for 90 days.

The plan is meant to bring grocery prices down. Rancher groups say it will put more pressure on American cattle producers who are already dealing with drought, high feed costs and the smallest herd in decades.

American manufacturing is having its best run in years.

July's ISM report showed factory activity at its highest level since May 2022, with 15 of 18 industries expanding and 60% of factories surveyed saying they were hiring. The August report came out this week and extended the streak: eight straight months of growth.

Here is the part that gets missed. Three out of four American manufacturers have fewer than 20 employees. When factories grow, it is mostly small businesses growing.
