Most business owners we talk to have a Google Ads dashboard open somewhere — and no real relationship with it beyond glancing at the total spend number once a month.
That's not a knock. Nobody hands you a manual when they set up an account, and the dashboard itself is built more for advertisers who live in it daily than for someone running a service business on the side. So people default to checking the one number that's easiest to find, which also happens to be one of the least useful ones.
The businesses that get the most out of their ad spend usually aren't the ones spending the most time in the dashboard. They're the ones who know which 3 or 4 numbers actually tell them something, and ignore the rest.
If you've never really felt confident reading your own account, that's genuinely common — and an easy thing to fix in one sitting.
