I had the great privilege this week of proofreading a WWII novel by a local author, and had a blast doing it. I was born with an eagle eye (if not 20/20 vision) and love using it to polish the work of others to higher excellence!

Just do it! A month or so ago, I made the time to gather all of our warranty and owner's manual information and organized it all into two accordion folders. I have thanked myself several times already when I was able to quickly locate a given piece of information!

Pick a small project like this that you've been meaning to do, set aside the time, and accomplish it! You'll love being able to cross it off your list, and you'll be able to thank yourself soon enough.

There *are* affordable products to help you get organized. Here's an example. I had a stack of important home-related documents and wanted a portable accordion folder. I found this one at Walmart for $9. One con: it's a little tippy, but I am going to get creative and reinforce the body with a stretchy elastic "belt" around it.

On Wednesday I shared info on a shredding event in April that is in Round Rock. Here is an event in May that is south:

Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 19, 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Austin High School parking lot, 1715 W. Cesar Chavez.

Households can bring up to five boxes of paper records for shredding. Box size should not be larger than 24" x 24" x 36". Mobile shredding trucks will be on site to shred all materials.

Please make sure your records are paper only (no hard plastics, no plastic bags, electronic media or three ring binders) and are not wet or moldy.

In lieu of a fee, monetary donations will be accepted for the Capital Area Food Bank.

If you pick containers you love, you'll enjoy using them! I picked up two of these lovely wire magazine holders at Office Max.

Something to keep in mind: containers not only hold things, they provide boundaries for our belongings. When a container is full, it's time to w**d things down.
