Relay Texas

Relay Texas Relay Texas is a service that provides telephone access for people with speech or hearing loss who find it challenging to use a traditional telephone.

Some people with hearing or speech loss have difficulty using a traditional telephone. Instead, many of these individuals enrich their lives by utilizing specialized telephones such as Teletypewriters (TTY) and other devices to
place calls through a telephone relay service (TRS) such as Relay Texas. Relay services allow the user to communicate with friends, loved ones, business associates, and service providers so they may participate in daily community life.

Tourette Syndrome can include motor or vocal tics that are often beyond a person’s control. While tics don’t define intelligence or professionalism, situations like phone interviews, virtual meetings, or other calls can feel especially stressful.
Relay Texas can help take the stress out of making important phone calls with services designed specifically for people with speech differences.

With Hearing Carry-Over (HCO), IP Relay, and Relay Conference Captioning (RCC) you have the option of typing out your message and having your words spoken on calls for you by a relay operator.

- IP Relay makes this calling option available on phones, tablets, or computers through the IP Relay app.
- HCO offers the same style of service but through a landline HCO device.
- RCC also allows a user’s written words to be voiced for them but on video meetings, webinars, and conference calls.

During Tourette Syndrome Awareness Month, we recognize that everyone deserves communication options that reduce stress and support confidence. Accessible tools help people show up as the professionals they are! Learn more about our relay services for people with speech differences by visiting relaytexas.com

Neurofibromatosis (NF) affects 1 in every 2,500 births, yet it’s often called “the most common disorder you’ve never heard of.” NF is a genetic condition that causes tumors to grow on nerves, often affecting the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. These tumors can impact movement, coordination, and communication.

Relay services can support people with NF who experience speech differences or hearing loss by making phone communication more accessible. If you or someone you know needs assistance learning how to use relay services, send us a DM! We are always available to help.

This World NF Awareness Day, join the campaign to help spread the word—because accessible communication helps people with NF stay connected, informed, and understood.
