Had a great time at the annual advisors dinner tonight at Cayuga Onondaga BOCES. I'm an advisor for the Computer Systems and Network Administration program. I got to enjoy an excellent dinner prepared by the Culinary Arts students and was able to go home with a center piece that the Plant, Animal &
Life Sciences created.

The short story is that our clients are not directly affected by today’s big story.

You may have heard of the “worldwide Internet outage” or other such poorly worded headlines about an issue that was caused by an update to machines around the world. Here is what has happened.

Crowdstrike, a vendor that provides sophisticated EDR (endpoint detection and response – advanced AV) software that is generally in use by larger corporations, and not every prevalent in small business.

As such, we don’t have any clients using this, and therefore are not DIRECTLY impacted. But many large organizations, from American Airlines, Delta, or United and thousands of others are affected.

This was caused by a flawed update that was released overnight that prevents Windows servers and desktops from booting properly and generally requires on-site intervention to resolve it and is very time intensive.
