Eric Wildes, ME 12, and his wife, Dorothy, welcomed their daughter, Elinor, on Dec. 8, 2025. “As Dorothy went to UGA, this magazine cameo was necessary to establish Ellie’s allegiance. The giant bow on her head was purchased from a car dealership in order to ‘out bow’ a family member’s recent baby,” Wildes explains.

On November 7, 1896, Auburn was set to play its first home game against Georgia Tech. The night before the game, Auburn cadets put pig grease, lard, and soap on several hundred yards of the railroad tracks near the Auburn station. Unable to come to a complete stop, the train carrying Tech’s football team slid past the Auburn station. When the train did come to a stop, it was almost a mile beyond the Auburn Depot. The weary but resilient Yellow Jacket players walked back to Auburn, carrying their football equipment the entire way.

Tim Lieuwen, MS ME 97, PhD ME 99, has been named interim president of Georgia Tech by the University System of Georgia (USG), effective Nov. 1, 2026. Lieuwen currently serves as the executive vice president for Research at Georgia Tech and has spent more than 25 years at the Institute. https://bit.ly/4ygTO9O
