GODMODE SETUP COMPLETE IN WINDOWS 11 🔥
Here's the exact, foolproof way to enable God Mode (also called "All Tasks" or Master Control Panel). It still works perfectly in 2026 on the latest Windows 11 builds.
Step-by-step instructions:

Right-click on an empty spot on your Desktop.
Choose New > Folder.
Rename the new folder to exactly this (copy-paste it):textGodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
Press Enter.

→ The folder icon will instantly change to a Control Panel-style icon.
→ Double-click it to open God Mode.

If you're looking for an all-in-one replacement that also looks like Microsoft's software, then ONLYOFFICE should be your first stop.
ONLYOFFICE includes four programs:

Document — a Microsoft Word alternative
Spreadsheet — An Excel alternative
Presentation — A competitor to PowerPoint
PDF — A tool for authoring and editing PDF files

ONLYOFFICE is very capable, and it is my go-to recommendation for anyone that doesn't like LibreOffice's user interface. It is just as capable, can handle DOCX and XLXS files without a problem, but closely resembles Microsoft Office.

It is open source, or costs nothing, but donations are accepted.

Our commitment to Windows quality
Hello Windows Insiders,
I want to speak to you directly, as an engineer who has spent his career building technology that people depend on every day. Windows touches more people's lives than almost any technology on Earth. Every day, we hear from the community about how you experience Windows. And over the past several months, the team and I have spent a great deal of time analyzing your feedback. What came through was the voice of people who care deeply about Windows and want it to be better.
Today, I’m sharing what we are doing in response. Here are some of the initial changes we will preview in builds with Windows Insiders this month and throughout April.
• More taskbar customization, including vertical and top positions
Repositioning the taskbar is one of the top asks we’ve heard from you. We are introducing the ability to reposition it to the top or sides of your screen, making it easier to personalize your workspace.
• Integrating AI where it’s most meaningful, with craft and focus
You will see us be more intentional about how and where Copilot integrates across Windows, focusing on experiences that are genuinely useful and well crafted. As part of this, we are reducing unnecessary Copilot entry points, starting with apps like Snipping Tool, Photos, Widgets and Notepad.
• Reducing disruption from Windows Updates
Receiving updates should be predictable and easy to plan around, so we’re giving you more control. This includes the ability to skip updates during device setup to get to the desktop faster, restart or shut down without installing updates and pause updates for longer when needed, all while reducing update noise with fewer automatic restarts and notifications.
• Faster and more dependable File Explorer
File Explorer is one of the most used surfaces in Windows. Our first round of improvements will focus on a quicker launch experience, reduced flicker, smoother navigation and more reliable performance for everyday file tasks.
• More control over widgets and feed experiences
Widgets should feel helpful and relevant, not distracting or overwhelming. We’re introducing quieter defaults, more control over when and how widgets appear, and improved personalization for the Discover feed.
• A simpler, more transparent Windows Insider Program
The Windows Insider Program is how you help shape the future of Windows, and it should be easy to understand what to expect and how to participate. We are implementing changes to make it easier for you to navigate with clearer channel definitions, easier access to new features, higher quality builds, better visibility into how your feedback shapes Windows and more opportunities to engage directly with us.
• Improved Feedback Hub, available starting today
Your feedback is essential to improving Windows, and it should be easy to share and see what others are saying. Today, we’re rolling out the largest update to Feedback Hub yet to our Insiders, with a redesigned experience that makes it faster and easier to submit feedback and engage with the community.
Building on these changes, what follows below is our broader plan and areas of focus for the year to raise the bar on Windows 11 quality. The work is underway. You can expect to see tangible progress that you’ll be able to feel as you preview builds from us throughout the rest of the year.
Last night I had the chance to sit down with a small group of Windows Insiders here in Seattle to listen, to answer questions and to share more about where we're headed. The Seattle meetup was the first of several stops our team will be making to engage in person, in more cities around the world, to connect with the Windows community.
Thank you for holding us to a high standard. Windows is as much yours as it is ours. We’re committed to strengthening its foundation and delivering innovation where it matters, for you.
Please keep the feedback coming, to help us shape the future of Windows together.

I have been getting a lot of questions about older printers that have stopped working, especially HP brand. The following could be a reason why on some of them.
Printers on Windows have historically required individual drivers on Windows, which causes security vulnerabilities, limited hardware upgrades, and reliability problems. Now, Microsoft wants to replace that with “a fundamentally modern approach,” which includes a slow phaseout for legacy printer drivers.
Printers have a long-running reputation for being awful, and it’s not entirely because of HP’s overpriced ink cartridges. On Windows, each printer often required its own hardware driver, or at least a shared driver across several similar models. Newer versions of Windows could potentially break those drivers, and if the manufacturer didn’t provide an updated driver for newer CPU architectures, you had to stay on an older PC or get a new printer. For example, some Windows 11 PCs now have ARM-based chipsets, but those can’t run x86-only hardware drivers.
Microsoft has been trying to fix that in Windows PCs with a few different projects. Modern versions of Windows (starting with Windows 10 21H2) have a built-in universal printer driver, compatible with any printers that use the Mopria industry standard. That driver has continued to improve with subsequent updates to Windows 10 and 11, and printers using Mopria are widespread. For businesses and other organizations, Microsoft’s Universal Print cloud service is designed to dot replace legacy printer servers.
In January 2026, Microsoft stopped allowing new legacy printer drivers in Windows Update for Windows 11 and Windows Server 2005. That was incorrectly reported by some tech news outlets (including Tom’s Hardware and Windows Central) as Windows 11 ending all support for legacy printers, but that’s not happening anytime soon. Microsoft just isn’t allowing new drivers that are built with the legacy driver model. If you have an old printer that needs a special driver, installed through Windows Update or elsewhere, Windows 11 won’t block that.
Starting in July 2026, Windows 11 will start to use the universal driver (IPP) instead of legacy drivers, if both options exist for the same printer. In July 2027, Windows Update will stop releasing updates for legacy printer drivers, except for security fixes. There’s currently no timeline for cutting off old printers and their drivers entirely—that’s years away, at least.
Microsoft explained in a blog post today, “Modernizing an industry as broad and diverse as Windows print is a large undertaking, but the progress is real, and the momentum is accelerating. With the modern print platform, we’re building a future where the print experience just works, no matter the device, no matter the architecture, and no matter how complex the environment behind it.”

The current version (for tax year 2025, which is being filed in 2026) of TurboTax Desktop explicitly requires Windows 11 (64-bit) and will not install or run on Windows 10 anymore. This change took effect starting with the 2025 edition, primarily due to Microsoft's end of free support and security updates for Windows 10 in October 2025.From Intuit's official system requirements:Operating system: Windows 11 (64-bit)
Other specs include at least 4 GB RAM (recommended), 1 GB hard disk space (plus extra for .NET if needed), and administrative rights.

Basically how AI works is that it searches the internet for websites that in some way contains information that relates to your input. The question is, is the information true or not. AIs handles the results in various ways, and some are better than others.

How many times have you done searches only to find the results in no way applies to your search.

At present, using AI is not much better than doing a simple search, and in my opinion should be called AS, Artificial stupidity.

Many people have older computers that do not allow the new Windows 11 upgrade, and Microsoft has stopped giving security and driver updates. There are options available to these computers.

I can Install Windows 11 on most older computers by circumventing Microsoft "hardware requirements" check on install, but Microsoft some time in the future may issue an update that checks these requirements again, which may cause the operating system to stop working.

Install a version of Linux, and my favorite kernel is Zorin, which has 3 versions. One that cost 50.00 allow customizing the desktop to look like Windows or macOS, and 2 other versions, basic and educational, which are free.

If you have questions about these options, just give me a call or an email.

I am taking orders now for gaming desktops, and parts are not as available as in the past.

One of the most common mistakes people, usually young males, make is when in trying to upgrade their hardware, has an older motherboard that has a PCIe 4.0 data bus. They try running the top end video graphics cards that are PCIe 5.0. Although the adapters will downclock and work, you do not get the full benefit of the video card.
The same applies when they upgrade to a NVMe storage module that is PCIe 5.0.
The PCIe data bus id the highway that allows communication between the motherboard and the CPU.
Your money will be better spent if you will upgrade the motherboard first, then add the newer NVMe and graphics adapter.
As a side not, the motherboards that have PCIe 5.0 usually accept the newer DDR5 RAM modules, which are faster.

While solid-state hard drives have become common in modern PCs, many budget models and older machines still have the old spinning hard disk drive. If you have a computer in that second category, consider a hard drive upgrade.
Many components determine computer performance and speed. Things like the CPU and amount of RAM is important for a fast responding computer, but the latest advance in storage drives can really speed things up.
As an example, a mechanical drive system can take 6 to 10 minutes to load windows completely, and shutdown time can be minutes as well. A SSD (Solid State Dive) will nominally boot to the desktop in 10 to 15 seconds, and it shuts down in 3 to 5 seconds.
There are other factors that affect actual performance, but the SSD can give the best results. The Windows operating system can greatly affect the performance as well.
SSDs have no moving parts and are faster, use less power, and do not need to be defragged as mechanical drives do.
I recommend for older computers with mechanical drives that a SSD be installed with a fresh install of Windows 10 Professional. Usually Windows 10 works better with at least 8GB of RAM.
Be safe neighbors!
