“The zenith of Physical AI.”

That’s how Debjit Mukerji from NGP Capital, one of our key investors, describes what the team at Tractian is building.

We handed him the tiny mic and asked what makes him excited about Tractian, and the first thing he brought up was the people: a culture built on excellence and pushing boundaries, with a real sense that there’s no limit to what this team can do. The technology came right after: building something that reaches the people who keep the world’s most critical operations running. 🎙

If you work in manufacturing, you're trained to notice the details. A sound that's a little off. A line running a beat slower than usual. The small change everyone else walks past.

At PACK EXPO, those instincts are about to come in handy. 👀

Something’s dropping on the show floor. Stay sharp, keep your eyes open, and come say hi at Booth N-6382.

Every breakdown has a backstory.

Welcome to Anatomy of a Failure, our new series where we trace equipment failures back to where they really started.

First case: the centrifugal pump. By the time it goes down, the clues have been there for weeks. A seal starting to leak. A bearing running hot. Cavitation quietly eating away at the impeller.

We'll walk through each one, part by part, and show you how to catch it before it shuts down your line.

Did you know a failure starts making noise long before you can hear it?

The human ear tops out around 20 kHz. But friction, micro-leaks, and early bearing defects show up above that, in the ultrasound range. The machine is already warning you. It's just doing it at a frequency you can't hear.

By the time you can hear it, the damage is usually well underway.

Listen earlier, and you can step in earlier.

$600K. That's the estimated commercial impact one Danone dairy plant avoided by catching a homogenizer issue before it turned into a shutdown.

Add $40K in maintenance costs, a $7,600 gearbox replacement, and up to 30 days of downtime that never happened.

There is a number that almost no one measures and that says a lot about your operation: maintenance intensity.

Calculating it is very simple: divide maintenance hours by operating hours. It tells you how much maintenance effort it consumes every hour that the plant produces.

And here's the counter-intuitive part: a high number is nothing to be proud of. A lot of times it means you're putting in a lot of hours to sustain assets that fail too much.

An MI that goes up over time is a red flag: teams are asking for more attention to produce the same thing. An IM that goes down while availability is maintained or improved is the real good news, because it means you're accomplishing more with less reactive effort.

In practice, the only way to lower it without neglecting assets is to stop reacting and start anticipating. Fewer hours putting out fires, more hours producing.

Do you know what your plant'sI MI is today?

In a beverage plant, nothing breaks alone.

A filler bearing running hot. A capper motor pulling extra current. On a connected line, one stop upstream means every station downstream waits too.

That's why we look at complete asset health: mechanical, electrical and operational condition, read on the same asset. Your team sees the whole story while there's still time to plan the fix.

Here's what that has returned for beverage teams with Tractian so far:

→ 9,187 hours of customer-confirmed downtime avoided. That's more than a year of production time.
→ $7.6M in validated avoided cost, across 75 beverage customers.

In beverage, production is connected. Visibility usually isn't. That's the gap we're built to close.

A machine's health doesn't live in one place.

It's spread across a vibration route you run monthly, an oil sample sitting at the lab, a temperature check somebody does by hand - and the rest in the head of a tech who's two years from retiring.

So the first real signal that something's wrong is usually the breakdown.

At SMRP 2026 Annual Conference, Easton Snyder, our Head of Sales Engineering, takes the stage with "Where Continuous Asset Health Monitoring Meets Field Intuition." His case: the most consequential reliability decisions aren't made at headquarters. They're made by the people closest to the asset, and systems can finally hear everything those assets are saying at once.

Come see it work at booth 735. Every condition monitoring technique on one asset, read together and running all the time: vibration, ultrasound, temperature, oil analysis, and what your tech saw on the walkthrough. One health picture instead of five partial ones, and a diagnosis in plain language you can act on.
The team's instinct, running on every asset, all the time.

That's a wrap on IMTS 2026 🎉

Six days in Chicago, and the best part was never the floor. It was the conversations. With the maintenance leads, the reliability engineers, and the plant managers who've taken the 2 a.m. call more times than they'd like to count.

What we heard again and again: nobody's asking for another dashboard. They want to know which machine is about to fail, and how much runway they've got to fix it.

That's the whole reason we build what we build. Sensors on the asset, reading mechanical, electrical, and operational data together, so machine health stops being a guess.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, asked the hard questions, and told us about your plant. Chicago, you were good to us. Until next time.

Our booth has run at 100% uptime since Monday.

Igor on stage Tuesday for "Building Software for the Factory Floor," and a steady line of maintenance and reliability teams telling us about the one machine that keeps them up at night. Those conversations are the reason we build what we build.

We're here at through Saturday at booth 236205.
