This Friday, AT&T can start pulling copper phone service in 55 wire
centers across 13 states — on or after October 16 (FCC notice DA 26-790).
If your business still runs its fire alarm, elevator phones, or
security panels on a copper POTS line, the deadline just stopped
being theoretical. And most owners don't know how many copper
lines they have.
Verizon's parallel request — copper POTS in portions of nine states
(~277,000 lines) — was pulled from the FCC's automatic-approval
track on Sept 25 for further review, so its Oct 23 date is on hold.
A second Verizon filing seeks November 30 for nine more states plus
D.C. (~750,000 lines), and AT&T has a second batch seeking
November 15 (~90,000 customers, 18 states).
This is exactly the kind of ready-made campaign our affiliates sell:
the market is on a real deadline, and we handle the vendors and the
backend. Comment AFFILIATE and I'll show you what it looks like.
