Your bridge already cross-checks position using ECDIS, AIS, radar and other onboard systems. But how many of those checks are genuinely independent when GNSS is jammed or spoofed?

RockFLEET does a lot more than put a vessel on a map (although it does this *very* well!).

There’s a lot more to good satellite IoT design than simply getting a connection.

Our latest case study with Mobilis SA shows how thoughtful engineering can make satellite connectivity far more efficient.

Mobilis has built a hybrid communications model around the realities of offshore monitoring: limited power, metered airtime, intermittent terrestrial coverage and the need to separate routine telemetry from remote maintenance.

Instead of sending verbose sensor data over satellite, Mobilis compresses it into compact binary payloads, reducing data volumes by an order of magnitude or more compared with plain text. Routine telemetry is sent using Iridium Messaging Transport (IMT), while an Iridium Certus 100 IP connection is reserved for remote diagnostics and maintenance when engineers need hands-on access.

That means satellite airtime is used where it adds the most value, helping keep costs under control while maintaining resilient access when LTE or radio isn’t available.

Ground Control’s RockREMOTE Mini and Cloudloop form part of that architecture, but the real strength of the solution is how intelligently Mobilis has designed the whole system around the demands of remote marine monitoring.

Cargo shipping isn’t always glamorous. But it is critical.

Every day, vessels are moving the goods, materials and supplies that businesses and communities depend on. They need to keep doing that safely and reliably, even in areas where GNSS is being jammed or spoofed.

These images show RockFLEET Assured where it belongs: on board working vessels, supporting operations at sea.

Reliable positioning supports safe operations, accurate records, accountability and confidence in a vessel’s location and movements. When GNSS becomes unreliable, the cargo still needs to arrive and the vessel still has a job to do.
