FYI: If you purchase a Seagate Hard Drive, make sure you register it on their web site right away. They do their warranty based on manufacture date not when you purchase it. I ordered 5 identical Seagate drives from NewEgg. They are supposed to have a 2 year warranty on the drives. Three of the drives were manufactured on Feb 11th 2019 and show the full two year warranty (actually a little over two years) but the other two show Aug 15th 2018 and only have 1.5 years of warranty. I called Seagate, and they will do nothing for me and suggested I return the drives to NewEgg. I called NewEgg and they said I could not return them because nothing was wrong with them. I told them what Seagate said and then they agreed to the return but I'd have to pay for the shipping back to them and the shipping on the new drives to me and they could not guarantee the manufacturing date on the new drives to me.
Well, I guess I'm keeping the drives and hoping for the best, but I will never buy another seagate drive (I never have this issue with a WD drive) nor will I order anything else from NewEgg.

IRS Email? Bank Email? UPS/FedEx/USPS Package exception? RansomWare comes in several shapes and sizes! Don't be fooled!

RansomWare - Very nasty viruses that infect your computers and encrypt all your files. When ransomware first surfaced, the viruses only encrypted documents, now they encrypt everything making your computer useless.

Most of these viruses come as attachments in emails. Do not open attachments in emails that you are not explicitly expecting! Even from friends, co-workers, or family!

The only way to recover from ransomware is to restore a backup from before the attack. If you don't have a backup or if your backup was also encrypted, then you lose everything or pay the ransom to get the decryption key. Ransoms vary in size and can be upwards of several thousand dollars. It's best not to communicate with the terrorists at all, but if you absolutely have to, do not take the first dollar amount. Negotiate a lower amount if you can.

Contact the authorities. Most of these attacks go unreported. The more information the authorities have the better.

Several local companies have fallen victim to ransomware. Please do not be one of them! Be Safe!

Well, it's a new year and so far quite. Keep your PCs safe. Remember, the bulk of viruses are being sent via email right now. Make sure you know who is sending you attachments and even if you do, that you are expecting them.

You want to know what the advantage of going with a small business for your technologies needs? One of our customers calls, texts, and emails us at 6:28pm on Christmas Eve saying their server has no power and will not turn on. They need to run payroll so the direct deposit will hit for their employees.

What does Turske Technologies do? Throw a spare server in the vehicle and drive 45 minutes on snow covered nasty roads, meet the customer on site, troubleshoot and use parts from spare server to get them up and running.

Customer was so pleased to be back up and running. Payroll will go out for their employees.

This is the personal touch of a small business.
