Just in time for Week 17, Version 18.04 of Football Mogul 21 has been posted here:

This includes support for up to 16 playoff teams. If you start a new game in 2020 with this version, your league will automatically be set to the new 14-team playoff format.

If you are in the middle of simulating the 2020 season, you can change from 12 to 14 playoff teams by going to the League Editor and changing "Wild Card Teams" from 2 to 3.

This algorithm would cause you to bring the infield in almost exactly as often as major league managers did in 2018.

Baseball Mogul is more complex. but I wanted to see if I could simplify it to a relatively simple rule.

I have changed my mind. I am now in favor of banning the infield “overshift”.

The biggest reason for my reversal is that this rule would be less destructive than everything else MLB is doing (like playing 7-inning games and adding automatic runners).

And I’m sick of seeing things like a ground ball to the right side being recorded as a 5-4-3 double play. I don’t have access to Statcast data. But we all have Retrosheet. And Retrosheet loses some of its informational value if a lefty can pull the ball into a “5-3” groundout.

Finally, it’s easy to implement this without impinging on strategies like the 5-man infield. Just require at least 2 players (other than the pitcher) on each side of the infield when the pitch is thrown. A violation results in an automatic ball.

This is a complex update because of the new 16-team playoff format. It's been through a lot of testing, but that doesn't guarantee it will work flawlessly with every saved game. Please make a backup copy of your game file and let me know immediately if you run into any problems.

Football Mogul Version 18.02 now available:

This adds 51 players to the 2020 database who were missing from the September 13th rosters because they were on Injured Reserve.

It also fixes bad punting stats from 1950-2019.
