Big congrats to everybody involved in BLUES FOR WINTER ZERO, which recently won Best Artist’s Book at End Paper, the first art book fair at . This project started in 2021, with a DM from Wes Tirey. He was looking for a home for a recording project that was “a lil far out” and I said “you had me at far out.” Now you can visit this work in its permanent home in the NCMA Art Reference Library (or buy a copy for yourself).

I made my NPR debut yesterday talking artists' books and zines with Matt Peiken of Blue Ridge Public Radio! It's at the top of this great piece on the Asheville Zine Festival, where I tabled last weekend along with 30 other small presses, artists, cartoonists, and zine publishers.

Zines are the shortened name for fan magazines. The format came of age in the 1930s and hasn’t changed much since. I printed over 600 of these (2400 impressions) so I could really get to know my press: it’s a Sigwalt Ideal No 4 that I bought two years ago from a sweet guy in the woods outside of Auburn, Alabama. It’s running beautifully now thanks to new rollers from Todd’s Press Time (real heads know Todd), illuminating emails with .moxon, long conversations with , a mechanical engineering buddy who taught me about thread pitches on screws (🤯), and several hours of manually filing a sh*tty, worn-out piece of steel. The printmaking community rules.

DME + SEETHER BOOKSTORE AT REVOLVE: we’re popping up again, but this time at ! Join us on Saturday, March 5th from 11AM-4PM to buy all the artists’ books, used books, zines, cassettes, print editions, posters, hats, and notebooks you could possibly need.

We’ll also be tag-team-teaching a free zine-making workshop from 12PM-2PM! There will be enough materials to seat 20 people and you’ll leave with your own edition of 10 zines :)
