Replacing electrolytic capacitors, cleaning the controls and switches, and alignment of the AM and FM tuner sections as well as a complete teardown and cleaning of the record changer has this 1964 Airline stereo console singing again.

This Sansui 551 stereo receiver had low audio in one channel due to a failed coupling capacitor. The other electrolytic capacitors were replaced as well to keep this receiver reliable for the next 50 years or more. The tuner alignment was done and amplifier bias was adjusted. New dial lamps and cleaned controls and switches finish this one off. It's now a great sounding little receiver!

1961 RCA stereo console has been moved on to a new owner. This one had missing tubes and looked like it had been run with bad coupling capacitors in the power amplifier. It's a nice small size cabinet but still has the bigger amplifier and speakers. Record changer was fully torn down, cleaned, and lubricated, and has a new needle.

Replaced the thermal switches in a Hafler 500 power amplifier, some of them were tripping at a lower temperature than normal which caused the fan to run at a higher speed and the amplifier to go into overtemperature protection during normal operation. Having the amplifier shut down for a few minutes at a time at a moderately loud level is frustrating, but that problem is gone now.

Not really a vintage unit, but someone wanted this Crosley-style player working again. It had noisy, low, and distorted audio due to a shorted speaker coupling capacitor. I replaced both of them anyway to keep the problem from happening to the other channel later on.

Here is a 1974 Sylvania 12" black and white portable, this one had a dirty AGC adjustment pot causing very weak video. This is a good quality set from before the brand became part of North American Philips later in the decade.

This 1972 Zenith 12" 5 tube hybrid set is ready to go back to its owner now. It was dirty on the inside and had sync instability with judder and pulling in the picture depending on video content. After cleaning I found a noise inverter transistor that was not turning on fully even though the input was correct. Replacing the transistor got the set working normally again. It has a nice, bright, and sharp picture.

Two vintage B&W portables ready to go back to their owners. The Panasonic was the victim of someone messing with internal adjustments, and the Zenith had a hard to find intermittent problem with the power supply; in this case a failed supply voltage adustment potentiometer inside the set. I also had to clean the tuner on the Zenith as simply touching the channel selector k**b would cause the picture to flash.
