Dr. Michael Martinez Scott ran for Riverside County Board of Education Trustee Area 1 with a $12,000 budget, no field team and a knee injury that ruled out door knocking, against two opponents who raised a combined $250K.

He won outright, taking 46.3% of the vote and finishing more than 10,000 votes ahead of his closest opponent.

The strategy behind the win relied on P2P texting: segmented outreach built for specific audiences, two-way conversations that surfaced what was resonating and a same-day response that helped correct a false claim before it could spread.
