YouTube just gave live streamers a new way to reach more viewers. 👀
You can now stream in horizontal and vertical formats at the same time.
People watching on desktop can enjoy the traditional horizontal experience, while mobile viewers can find and watch the vertical version directly in the Shorts feed.
The best part is that everyone joins the same stream and the same live chat, so your community stays connected no matter how they are watching.

Should you script your live stream? 🎥
The answer depends on your format, topic, and how comfortable you feel on camera. But in most cases, Marielou recommends keeping the script to a minimum.
Live streaming works best when it feels natural and authentic. Reading every word can make it harder to connect with your audience and respond to the conversation happening in real time.
That doesn’t mean you have to go live without a plan. If you have important information to share, prepare a few key talking points, reminders, or scripted moments to keep yourself on track. Think of them as guideposts instead of a full script.
Plan what matters, then leave room to be yourself. 🧡

After three years of live streaming, I understand how challenging it can be to persist when the community doesn’t seem to be growing. However, the truth is that it wasn’t until I strategically planned my streams that I actually witnessed significant growth. Surprisingly, it didn’t require investing in expensive equipment; instead, it involved developing a consistent weekly strategy that fostered organic growth.

Should you stream in 4K or 1080p? 🎥
Marielou prefers 4K because a higher resolution recording gives her more flexibility when editing. She can crop, reframe, zoom in, or repurpose the footage for different formats while keeping everything looking sharp.
But here’s the most important takeaway: not having a 4K setup should never stop you from going live.
A strong message and a genuine connection with your audience matter far more than resolution. If 1080p is what your equipment and internet connection can reliably handle, start there. You can always upgrade later.
The best resolution is the one that helps you confidently press Go Live. 🧡
