⭐ This kind of feedback says it all.

"Representative Jack Lunkiewicz was excellent! Knowledgeable, friendly and was quick to resolve the issue. Great conversation... a 'go to guy' for any problem going forward!"

— Ed Billick, via Google Review

This is precisely why our support team is here. No runaround. No scripts. You'll get someone who knows the product, listens to your problem, and solves it.

Jack, well done. 👏

If every client has a different backup configuration, you don't have a managed service. That's more a collection of individual backup arrangements with custom deployments.

The problem with custom configurations is that they don't scale. You'll see this when your technician receives a call at 2 a.m. about a crashed server that someone else set up. If they don't know what or how it was backed up, they'll have to wake you, too. 😮

Here's what a scalable managed backup service actually looks like:
→ One standard configuration that every client deployment inherits
→ A three-tier alert structure (critical, warning, and informational) that eliminates unnecessary alerts while ensuring that real issues are not overlooked
→ A monthly restore testing rotation that balances your employees' time
→ Reports that demonstrate your work to your customers, making it harder for them to cancel

Take a look at blog post no. 4 of our Managed Backup Playbook for 2026, where we discuss how to set up a scalable managed backup service in more detail.

The NovaBACKUP Spring Release adds remote agent updates. You can now push backup client updates to any connected agent directly from the central management dashboard, without opening a remote session or even touching the endpoint.

From the agent details page, select the agent and push the update. The session history panel logs everything, including which processes ran, which files were involved, and any messages that were sent during the update. If something didn't complete, you'll see it there. If you're rolling out across a large environment, the per-agent audit trail lets you confirm what updated cleanly before moving on.

The agent needs to be online and connected to the central management to receive the update. If it's offline, you trigger it once it reconnects and the session history reflects the status.

For anyone managing a lot of endpoints, this removes the coordination overhead that usually makes agent updates something people defer longer than they should.

Two things MSPs have been asking for that are now available with the NovaBACKUP Spring Release 🎉

◼️Scoped client logins

◼️Granular role permissions

Multi-tenant management lets you create separate accounts for clients, team members, resellers, and agency partners. Each account is scoped to its own environment. A client logs in and sees their agents, their backup jobs, their restore points. A reseller sees their slice of your deployment. Nobody sees anything they shouldn't.

You can switch between tenant accounts from the navigation menu without logging out, which matters when you're managing a lot of environments day to day.

Role-based permissions let you define exactly what each account holder can do. Permissions are organized by category (agents and groups, jobs, storage, dashboard, reports, notifications, and roles). Within each category you set view-only or full edit access. One worth noting: users can't create or assign roles with more permissions than they themselves have, so there's no way to accidentally hand someone elevated access.

In practice this means a level 1 tech can see job status and logs without touching configuration. A reseller can manage their clients without seeing yours. A client can create their own restore jobs without being able to modify backup settings. You set it up once and it holds.

Today, we’d like to highlight one underrated metric in a managed backup service.

👉How long does it take one of your technicians who didn't set up the IT environment to troubleshoot a failed restore?

Is your answer, "It depends on the client"?

If so, it means that the standardization of the tools you use isn't where it needs to be.

Standardization is the foundation on which everything else in your service is built.

👁️‍🗨️Monitoring

🔧Restore testing

⚙️Automation

📈Reporting

None of these things work at scale if the underlying configuration is inconsistent.

Our latest post in the Managed Backup Playbook for 2026 covers the full operational layer.

-Why incremental forever backup is the recommended approach for MSPs
-How to structure alerts so your team acts on them instead of ignoring them
-A monthly restore testing schedule built for a small team
-What to automate and what should always require human sign-off
