⚠️ SCAM ALERT: PHONE & EMAIL SCAMS ⚠️
Agate Networks would like to remind everyone to stay alert for phone calls, emails, and text messages from scammers pretending to be legitimate businesses, government agencies, banks, or even people you know.
Scammers are becoming increasingly convincing and may use real company names, local phone numbers, official-looking email addresses, or urgent messages to get you to act quickly.
Protect yourself:
• Never provide passwords, verification codes, banking information, Social Security numbers, or other sensitive information to an unexpected caller or email sender.
• Don’t click links or open attachments in emails or texts you weren’t expecting.
• Be suspicious of anyone demanding immediate payment, especially through gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfers, or payment apps.
• Caller ID can be spoofed. A local or familiar number does not guarantee the caller is legitimate.
• If someone claims to represent a company or government agency, hang up and contact that organization directly using a phone number or website you already know is legitimate.
• If an email looks suspicious, check the sender’s full email address—not just the displayed name.
🚩 Remember: Urgency is a common scam tactic. Messages such as “your account will be closed,” “you owe money,” “your computer has been compromised,” or “you must act immediately” are designed to make you react before you have time to think.
When in doubt, STOP. VERIFY. THEN ACT.
Taking an extra few minutes to verify a call or email can prevent identity theft, financial loss, and compromised accounts.
