Good connectivity doesn't happen by guesswork.

Between 2024 and 2025, Japotech Solutions worked on a Mobile Broadband Study for NITA-U, involving site surveys and drive tests across 42 districts covering all regions of Uganda.

But what does that actually mean?

Our teams went into the field to gather information about network conditions across different locations.

1. Site surveys helped us understand the physical and technical conditions of the locations being assessed.

2. Drive tests helped collect real-world network performance data while moving through different areas.

3. That field information can then help build a clearer picture of where connectivity is performing well, where gaps exist and what may need attention.

And this is where Telecom Consultancy becomes more than simply giving advice.

It is about collecting the right information, understanding what the data is saying and using that knowledge to support better network decisions.

From one region to another, connectivity needs are not always the same.

Ever wondered what actually happens when you make a phone call?

You tap a name, press Call, and within seconds you hear, β€œHello!”

Simple, right? But behind that little button is an entire network working together.

Here’s what happens:

1. Your phone sends a signal
When you make a call, your phone communicates with the nearest available cell site.

2. The cell site receives it
The site's antennas and radio equipment pick up your signal and pass it into the network.

3. The network routes the call
The network identifies where the call needs to go and directs it through the operator's infrastructure and backhaul links.

4. The destination is reached
The network sends the call towards the appropriate cell site serving the person you're calling.

5. Their phone rings β€” and they answer!
In just a few seconds, your voice has travelled through a complex combination of technology, infrastructure and people working behind the scenes.

So, the next time you casually press β€œCall,” remember:

There’s a whole network making that β€œHello!” possible.

Japotech Solutions is proud to be part of the 3rd National ICT Summit 2026 as a partner of ICT Association of Uganda (ICTAU) .

Taking place from 2–4 September at the National ICT Innovation Hub, Nakawa, the Summit brings together leaders, innovators, policymakers and organisations working to shape Uganda’s digital future.

This year’s discussions will explore how AI, digital infrastructure and innovation can contribute to Uganda’s ten-fold growth ambition.

For Japotech, this is an opportunity to connect, learn, share ideas and contribute to conversations around the infrastructure and technology needed to move Uganda forward.

We are glad to be part of the conversation and even more excited about what can come from the connections made along the way.
