Social Media Manager
About the Role
This is not a post-and-pray job. We need someone who wakes up thinking about content, understands what makes people stop scrolling, and genuinely loves Uganda enough to tell its stories every single day.
You will be the digital face and engine behind Everything Uganda, building our audience, growing our community, and turning curious followers into loyal readers and travellers.
What You'll Do
Content Creation & Management
● Plan, create, and publish content daily across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn and X (Twitter)
● Write captions that sound like a person, not a press release.
● Shoot and edit short-form video content (reels, TikToks, behind-the-scenes), phone-first, no fancy studio required
● Develop a consistent content calendar aligned with travel seasons, cultural events, and campaign goals.
● Repurpose long-form website content (guides, articles) into social-ready formats, Community & Growth
● Respond to comments, DMs, and mentions and build genuine relationships with the audience
● Identify and engage with relevant creators, travelers, travel brands, and Ugandan diaspora communities
● Grow our following organically and through targeted paid campaigns
● Monitor trends and jump on relevant moments quickly, Strategy & Reporting
● Track performance metrics weekly: reach, engagement, follower growth, link clicks, conversions
● Report insights monthly with clear recommendations, not just numbers
● Run A/B tests on content formats, posting times, and hooks
● Stay ahead of platform algorithm changes and adapt strategy accordingly. Campaigns & Partnerships
● Support influencer partnerships and press trips; coordinate content, briefings, and deliverables
● Assist in planning and executing paid social campaigns (Meta Ads, TikTok Ads)
● Collaborate with the content and web team to align social with SEO and website goals
What We're Looking For
You must have:
● 2+ years managing social media for a brand, agency, or publication (travel, lifestyle, or media preferred)
● A strong personal feel for Uganda, its culture, geography, people, and seasons
● Proven ability to grow an account and bring numbers, not just vibes
● Excellent written English, punchy, warm, and human
● Proficiency in Canva, CapCut, or equivalent design/editing tools
● Comfort with Meta Business Suite or TikTok creator tools and basic analytics dashboards. You'll stand out if you:
● Shoot and edit your own video content confidently.
● Have an existing personal following or have run a successful page of your own
● Understand SEO basics and how social and search work together
● Speak to the Ugandan diaspora and international travel audiences with equal ease
● Have experience running paid social campaigns.
