At the Report Launch, we recognised the exceptional communities who championed cybersecurity during the regional Cybershields with Winfred Nakanja representing Ministry of ICT & National Guidance and National ICT Innovation Hub.

We also had representation from the other three regions of Lira City Council, Mbarara University of Science & Technology (Kihumuro Campus) and Uganda Christian University - Mbale University College

Their passion and commitment helped us reach over 10 million individuals across Uganda.

As one representative put it:
“The sessions were not just educational — they were transformative.”

We’re grateful for their contribution in empowering communities with digital safety skills.

During the launch, several partners shared powerful reflections that reminded us why Cybersecurity Awareness Month is so important.

From the Ministry of ICT:
“The hackathon at EastCon was exceptional — it attracted students and gave them a practical, creative way to engage with cybersecurity.”

From Liquid Intelligent Technologies:
“The community response grew significantly. People wanted to understand real cyber risks.”

From UCU Mbale Campus:
“The mix of public, private, and student participation was inspiring. People were genuinely impacted.”

Across the board, one message was clear:
Cyber awareness must continue, and it must reach everyone — not just the tech sector.

The success of CSAM 2025 was made possible by strong collaboration from our partners who championed awareness across the country.

We’re grateful for the effort through a joint partnership with MTN Uganda and Mtn Momo and also collaborating with Ministry Of ICT & Natioanl Guidance , Liquid Intelligent Technologies , Echo Uganda and the National ICT Innovation Hub to deliver a nationwide campaign focused on AI-driven cyber threats, data privacy, and secure digital practices.

Their involvement strengthened community engagement and made the nationwide rollout possible.

One partner from MTN MoMo shared:
“Taking the campaign to different regions showed true inclusion. This year felt different — it felt national.”

Another from Liquid Technologies added:
“We saw a sharp increase in cybersecurity inquiries and engagements. People are finally seeking help.”

Together, we planted a deeper culture of cyber awareness across Uganda.

This year’s campaign broke new ground by taking cybersecurity awareness deep into the regions:
📍 Lira — Northern Uganda
📍 Mbarara — Western Uganda
📍 Mbale — Eastern Uganda
📍 Kampala — Central Uganda

Each region welcomed us with overwhelming enthusiasm, from students and SACCOs to business owners and local leaders.

A representative from UCU Mbale said:
“The Cybershields didn’t only focus on students — the public, private sector and business community benefited. People left motivated and informed.”

From local concerns about cyber fraud to the rising fear of AI-driven scams, the discussions across districts showed how urgent and universal this conversation has become.

Cybercrime is now among the top 3 global threats to businesses, and in 2024 alone, attacks increased by 36%.
AI-powered scams, deepfake fraud, poor password practices, and limited user awareness continue to put individuals and organisations at risk.

During the launch, our CEO emphasized that many attacks today succeed because:
• Basics aren’t known
• Passwords are too weak
• Users lack proper digital hygiene
• Cyber awareness is still low in many communities

This is why Cybersecurity Awareness Month expanded across Uganda this year — to make cybersecurity knowledge accessible to everyone, not just tech professionals.

One partner expressed:
“The radio talks and Cybershields reached people who had never received cybersecurity education. The impact was immediate.”
Cyber awareness is no longer optional — it's essential for securing tomorrow.

Today, we officially launched the October Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2025 Report — celebrating a historic year of nationwide impact.

This year, CSAM wasn’t just an event…it became a movement.
From Lira to Mbarara, Mbale to Kampala, Ugandans showed a strong hunger for cybersecurity knowledge as AI-driven threats continue to rise.

Our highlights for the month:
🔹 10,004,067+ individuals reached across Uganda
🔹 3 regional Cybershields + 2-day EastCon Symposium
🔹 26,000+ digital impressions & 1,770+ engagements
🔹 520% growth in Facebook reach alone

This year proved one thing: Ugandans are ready to take cybersecurity seriously.
And we’re committed to keeping the momentum going.
