Usually in the form of " *filename.fileextension* ," for a file called "panda.mp4" ,📽️ "Panda" is the *filename* and ".mp4" is the file extension. The file extension also determines the "file type/format" .

For a smooth user-experience(UX), file extensions enable a device to organize📂 all its file types/formats in their respective categories for easy identification.🔎

This includes; Video, audio, photo/image, document, application (program), Compressed files e.t.c...🗃️

Common file extensions include:
MP4, MOV, WMV, AVI, MKV, VOB *(VIDEO)* 🎬
M4A, .MP3, .WAV, .AAC ( *AUDIO* )🎼
GIF, .PNG, .JPG, .TIFF, .WEBP *(IMAGE)*😶‍🌫
DOC, .TXT, .PDF, .PPT *(DOCUMENT)* 📄
ZIP, .RAR, .7Z, .TAR , .Z *(COMPRESSED)* 📚
EXE, .APP, .APK, .IPA *(SOFTWARE/APPLICATIONS)*⚙️

😲However, all these files can only be opened/read by application programs designed specifically for each of them, all determined by their respective file extensions. ("dot" fileextension )

For example; VLC Media player can play/open both video & audio files (with video & audio file extensions) but cannot read an image file like ".JPG" because its file extension is not part of the software's programming. Therefore a photo/image application has to be used instead.

Similarly, .EXE and .APK files are for Windows PCs and Android devices respectively.
📱💻APP & .IPA are for MacOs and IOs for Apple devices, PCs and Smartphones/tablets respectively.

Fortunately, most system updates are presented automatically via the O.T.A(Over The Air) protocol as notifications on your Smartphone.📲 However, it's also important to check for them manually in your phone settings once in a while. They are very important for the smooth running of your device(s). Also they can be trusted📌 because they are sent directly from the manufacturer. But unfortunately, they will not be of any help unless you allow them to "Install."📥

System updates are software patches for updating your phone security🔐 against external threats and malware by closing the loopholes and gaps of entry. Also for improving stability & performance,⚡ resolving software malfunctions e.t.c...

Outdated software is one of the main causes of the system irregularities in your Smartphone🔥...so always keep it Up-to-date.

WIFI and HOTSPOT, What's the difference?🤷

😬Believe it or not, it's still a problem for some people to differentiate the two, so let's break it down, Real slow...🛠️

Both are means of wireless communication but they do it differently.📡

A Hotspot therefore is nothing but a physical location, like a wireless "access point" that provides Internet access via an ISP(Internet Service Provider) to mobile devices typically using WiFi. The term "Hotspot" is synonymously used with "Wireless Internet access" especially in physical locations like Cafés, Hotels, Airports e.t.c... where users can access Internet wirelessly.💻

WiFi (Wireless Fidelity): Is a wireless networking protocol that uses radio waves to provide network access to electronic devices via a LAN(Local Area Network). Just like in its name, WIFI does not use cables.

Typically on portable devices like Routers, a Hotspot acts as a transmitting channel whereas the WIFI, a receiving channel. The Hotspot function enables transmission that can be received by devices with the WIFI function. Elaboratively, an Internet hotspot thus enables WiFI enabled devices to connect to the Internet via the same Hotspot.⚙️

But these are not only used for Internet purposes but also for connecting two or more devices together for purposes of Information sharing like Xender, Share-it apps for file sharing via a WLAN (Wireless LAN). They are also used in the IoT(Internet of Things)📱📲

But, what is a driver?🤔

In simple terms a driver is a software program on your computer that enables your 📲Operating system to communicate with any computer hardware components including peripherals like mice, keyboards, flash drives, smartphone, printers e.t.c…⌨️🖨️🖱️

Without a driver there’s no way your Computer can communicate with a “hardware” device. But over time these drivers get “outdated” and therefore need an “Update” in order to communicate smoothly.
