Alchemist is a legendary Kyiv bar that has been operating since 2015. The project involved a complete rethinking of the brand’s visual identity while carefully preserving a part of its history — the image of the old alchemist.

When working on a rebrand, we believe that heritage should not be erased but reinterpreted for the present day. This principle became the foundation of the new identity. The result is a visual system that feels clean and contemporary while retaining a sense of mystery and depth, inviting visitors to discover its details over time.

The identity successfully balances the worlds of alchemy and experimentation, combining mystical references with the aesthetics of a laboratory. This duality reflects the character of the bar itself and informs many of its visual and spatial elements.

One of the most distinctive features of the project is the menu system. Rather than relying on a conventional format, it is divided into two separate parts. The first presents a library of signature cocktails, accompanied by illustrations and flavor profiles that help guests navigate the collection. The second contains the full bar menu in a more straightforward format, designed as a technical chart. Beyond reinforcing the laboratory-inspired aesthetic, this solution improves usability and allows individual pages to be easily updated when needed.

Special attention was also given to the custom tables created for the venue. Among the regular wooden tables, visitors can discover five unique pieces that function almost as installations within the interior. Some were produced using the églomisé technique, while others feature oxidized brass surfaces. Each table depicts traditional alchemical symbols and motifs, reinterpreted by our designers and brought to life by skilled craftspeople through carefully selected materials and techniques.

Freidora.
As the name suggests, this place is all about fried delights. The main heroes of the menu are churros and French fries.

The brief was to create an identity that feels unexpected for a seemingly straightforward junk food concept. We approached the project by blending the visual language of classic European bistros with the playful boldness of 1980s fast-food culture.

A deep burgundy palette — rich and almost luxurious in tone — is paired with gold and ochre accents, creating a frame that elevates the product and gives the brand a distinctive, slightly theatrical presence.

At the heart of the space is a custom tile fresco featuring Freidora — the fictional goddess of frying. On her left grows a churro tree, where children play around a fountain of flowing chocolate. On the right, a mirrored scene celebrates French fries, accompanied by a fountain of mayonnaise. The composition playfully mythologizes the joy of fried food.

Additional interior elements include panels and glass lettering executed in the églomisé technique, introducing a layer of craft and refinement that contrasts with the playful nature of the menu.

The restaurant is intentionally filled with small brand gestures — witty phrases, visual details, and unexpected touches — creating a dense, characterful environment designed to make every visit to Freidora memorable.
