THE VOLUME OF TRANSFERS WITHIN UKRAINE IN 2020 INCREASED BY ALMOST A QUARTER ↗☝️

In 2020, using funds transfer systems, UAH 255 billion or USD 9,49 billion in equivalent were transferred within Ukraine.👈

In addition, in 2020, the amount of domestic transfers made through funds transfer systems increased by almost a quarter (23,6%) compared to 2019. In general, the amount of funds transfers within Ukraine is growing annually: in 2017 — by 21,4%, in 2018 — by 24,3%, in 2019 — by 38,6%.💵

In 2020, the average transfer amount within Ukraine was 364 hryvnia (in 2019 — 314 UAH).🕵‍♀

The following was sent through the funds transfer systems:
• to Ukraine — 2,697 billion US dollars in equivalent. This is almost 19% more than in 2019.
• From Ukraine — USD 556 million in equivalent. Compared to 2019, the amount increased by almost 40%.🚀

Control over cyber security and information security of banks is increasing!☝️

The National Bank is strengthening control over the implementation by banks of measures to ensure cyber protection and information security, which will contribute to improving the organization of banks' activities in the face of modern cyber threats. To this end, the regulator introduces a new type of control over banks in the form of on-site inspections and remote supervision, which will be carried out by specialists of the National Bank in the field of cyber protection and information security. Banks are required to conduct an appropriate self-assessment on an annual basis, draw up and submit to the National Bank an annual report on the assessment of information security/cyber-crises risks.🕵️‍♀️

Implementation of the control mechanisms provided for by NBU Resolution No. 4 will enable the regulator to make decisions related to the competence of certification centers and estimate the efficiency of the bank's information security management system.💪

NBU allowed opening a bank account with a digital passport!👍

The National Bank of Ukraine has simplified the procedure for remote identification and verification of bank customers with a digital passport in the "Diya" mobile application.📲

From now on, citizens do not need to give physical original of ID card or biometric passport when opening a bank account if they have a digital passport or a digital passport in the "Diya" mobile application.🔏

All Ukrainians who have biometric documents (ID-card and foreign passport) will be able to use this method. To do this, they need to install the "Diya" application on their smartphone and verify themselves to obtain a digital passport or foreign digital passport using the BankID System of the NBU. This will reduce customer service time, as you will not need to make copies of your passport, as is currently the case.🗂✔

The bank will be able to use this method after connecting to the systems of the Ministry of Digital Transformation.🤝

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine plans to launch this mechanism after testing the functionality. At the same time, banks will need time to connect to the systems of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and set up operational processes.⏱❗

NBU announces the start of struggle with payment fraud!👊
The National Bank is launching an All-Ukrainian information campaign to combat payment fraud. The aim of the campaign is to teach Ukrainians the basic rules of security of cashless and online payments.🏦
In Ukraine, as in the world, the most popular method of payment card fraud is social engineering. It means that people themselves transfer money to scammers or disclose their card details. The challenge for central banks in all countries during quarantine and the online transition is to protect people from such cases.💳
Last year, there were almost 72,000 cases of illegal actions with payment cards in Ukraine. 58% of them happened on the Internet. But fraud with ATM overlays is almost a thing of the past.❗️
In 2020, due to quarantine measures, Ukrainians increasingly began to choose non-cash payments, payments and online purchases. There are also new scenarios for fraudsters who, under the guise of government agencies, promise financial assistance through quarantine and thus extract payment card data.😷
For the first time in the history of Ukraine, the National Bank is organizing such a large-scale information campaign to combat payment fraud, which is supported by a wide range of like-minded people. More than 50 partners representing socially responsible business in various industries have expressed a desire to join the campaign.👍🤝
