Google Pixel tablet to support Universal USI Stylus as codename emerges.The Universal Stylus Initiative (USI) appears to have highlighted a Pixel tablet feature that Google did not confirm during the device's teaser at I/O 2022. For context, Google added USI stylus support in Chrome OS, which explains the abundance of Chromebooks in the same screenshot. Hence, the inclusion of a Google-branded tablet on the USI database suggests that it will support USI styluses.
According to XDA Developers, it is only aware of Google developing one tablet. As such, it seems probable that 'Tangor' is the same tablet that Google teased earlier this month at I/O 2022. Theoretically, USI support would allow multiple styluses to write on the Pixel tablet simultaneously, while each stylus could save your most recently selected pen settings within a given app. Presumably, this means that USI support is headed to Android more widely too, rather than being a Pixel tablet exclusive.
Currently, Google hopes to introduce the Pixel tablet sometime in 2023. Unfortunately, it is unclear whether Google plans to release the tablet during its May or October hardware events, with the latter usually reserved for flagship devices. Based on the design shown so far, the Pixel tablet will be a mid-range or budget offering, with a basic single rear-facing camera set-up, thick display bezels and a chassis that resembles the Pixel 5. In other words, the Pixel tablet could debut at next year's Google I/O conference, likely alongside a Pixel 7a.
