We’re a small company, with a big vision...creating something that really matters.
We’re working on a solution that makes it nearly effortless for anyone to make better environmental decisions - across pretty much anything they do online. It’s different from anything else on the market, and our MVP testing has us optimistic that we might be onto something special (impact + business case).
We’re looking for experienced (or up-and-coming) Full Stack Software Developers (NodeJS, React) to help us build out our core product experience - across our target use cases, customer touch points, and community engagement mechanisms. We’re also very open to people who specialize more on the BE or FE rather than both, and are looking for people who are comfortable striking the right balance between smart design, and the need for rapidly responding to customer & community feedback.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
* It depends whether you operate across the stack or are a specialist. But here’s what we need help with...
* Implementing & improving upon our product targets and designs for our web solution and browser extensions. Seeing what we have, understanding our goals, and finding ways to make it better.
* Rapidly iterating & prototyping promising ideas. Until we’ve fully validated our value & growth assumptions, we need to quickly test new ideas, and follow where the data takes us. Production quality is the step after.
* Expanding our use cases & customer touchpoints, such that we help as many people as possible to make better environmental decisions, across whatever they want to do online (use cases, browsers, devices).
* Driving & supporting our BE architecture, DB structures for data ingestion & management, and FE enablement. Helping us to solve a lot of tough challenges (while respecting & protecting user privacy), and working on a day-to-day basis with our data scientists, environmental scientists, and team, to deliver simplified, compelling user experiences that create measurable user value, move key metrics, bring about real change, and position us to scale into the future.
* ...Basically, building out the backbone of our core product.
TARGET TOOL SETS & EXPERIENCE
* For the BE, NodeJS experience, ideally Express.js.
* Database experience, ideally Postgres or other SQL database, but also nice-to-have MongoDB, Redis.
* Docker experience, ideally all Docker tools (docker-compose, docker-machine) and Docker Swarm.
* Ideally, Kubernetes experience.
* Ideally, AWS / GCP experience.

* For the FE, React experience, with browser extension experience being ideal.
* Experience porting designs from Zeplin to code.
* Ideally, Webpack / Babel experience.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
* Smart, passionate people, who are driven to help find solutions to climate change (or at least, interested in tough intellectual challenges).
* Effective communicators, with good remote collaboration skills, as our working culture allows for flexibility, and a portion of the team is distributed outside of Taiwan (globally).
* Able to run lean, remain disciplined in thought and ex*****on, and continuously strive for improvement.
* Creative and self-motivated when finding solutions to uncertain and difficult challenges.
* Somebody who makes everybody around them better. Somebody who people want to work with. Somebody who does what they say they’ll do.
* Ultimately, somebody who is looking to tackle a tough challenge, to grow their own personal responsibility (NOT be told what to do), and who is able and trusted to move quickly.
TARGET QUALIFICATIONS:
* Good English proficiency, and experience working in multi-cultural / international environments.
* At least 3-5 years of experience in production software development (readable, maintainable, scalable), using the tool sets outlined above (work, academic).
* For the BE, experience working with large amounts of data is required, while a good understanding of modern machine learning techniques is extremely helpful.
* Masters degree in computer science (or related field) is helpful, but not required.
* Experience working in a startup is helpful, but not required.
* Experience working on community-powered solutions is helpful, but not required.

Our product has a clear initial target audience, and (we believe) the ability to scale far beyond the growing set of people who currently see climate change as an urgent issue. We use modern SW practices, and optimize for learning, for moving quickly, and for efficiency.
