Finech Taipei 2022 has been successfully wrapped up in the end of October 2022. This time, HCLTech exhibited and presented on the big stage about how HCLTech assists financial institutes in digital transformation and the modernization of legacy systems by phases.
Legacy systems often struggle with systems that accommodate the increasing number of calls from newer mobile apps, SaaS applications, IoT apps, and other systems that require the data. Additionally, to address security controls between legacy and modern systems, developers need to understand the differences between legacy and modern file formats and transfer protocols. For example, to build a mobile application that can keep a legacy system updated with a customer record stored on an IBM mainframe, developers need to coordinate file formats (COBOL copy vs. REST/JSON) and manage the protocols (FTP vs. HTTP) difference.
The data and functionalities of these legacy systems are often still very valuable to the corporates, so removing and replacing them is often not an option. The option to modernize legacy systems provides a way to maximize the usage of legacy systems. HCLTech recommends a modernization approach by utilising conversion tool to convert Cobol to .net/Java, API gateway, Microservices and cloud migration, support and maintenance outsourcing (ASM) to enable enterprises to reduce costs while increasing agility and closing functional gaps in legacy systems.
HCLTech takes various needs in consideration and priorities to provide customers with a variety of different solutions. We believe that financial institutions want to move from maintaining legacy systems with partial modernization to complete system migration through short-, medium-, and long-term strategies.
