14/02/2026
Feb 14,2026 marks the 30th anniversary of my career in the leasing business, mostly for semiconductor equipment and some assets for solar, SMT, CNC and one B777F. That journey started on Valentine’s Day of 1996 when I started working at Comdisco. Comdisco was later acquired by GE Capital in 2002. When GE decided to exit the business, a group of us started EQUVO acquiring a portfolio in Taiwan. EQUVO celebrated our 17th Anniversary two days ago.
We have maintained a ZERO DELINQUENCY track record over multiple billion dollars of leases including taking on challenged credits in troubled times eg. Hynix (as it emerges from bankruptcy in 2005), Acer’s ASMI (TI-Acer minus TI; later acquired by TSMC in 2000), Powerchip (during its tumultuous transformation from DRAM to foundry; while its peer, ProMOS collapsed in that same period), Neo Solar (as it gets merged into URE Corp), Inotera (prior to being acquired fully by Micron), Vanguard (transition from DRAM to foundry in 1999), Winbond (in 1997 after its 1996 Fab 3 fire), etc. We also lease to these customers in their good times as well. Our other customers include TSMC, Micron, ASE, StatsChipPAC, UTAC, SPIL, Western Digital, AT&T, Solectron, ASAT, Natsteel, OSE, GTC, Sigurd, KYEC, Kumho, Dongjin, Sony, Panasonic, Rohm, etc over these 30 years.
We have build our TRUST with banks (every bank has zero default) and investors (every investor made more than fair returns). More importantly, in these 30 years, many customers, bankers, suppliers, partners, etc have become good friends of mine… PRICELESS! It has been a very exciting and fulfilling 30 years in leasing.
I’d like to thank all that were part of this journey… a very big THANK YOU!
