Today, Trinidad and Tobago marks Emancipation Day.

In 1985, this country made history as the first independent nation in the world to declare August 1st a national holiday marking the abolition of slavery.

More than 150 years after the Act took effect, this small twin island nation chose to lead the world in remembering it.

We at ICONS are proud to call this nation home, and proud of the history it continues to honour.
