Running this older machine, bare minimum for testing purposes. User complained of hearing a knocking sound while running and overheating. Tyb Tech took the machine totally apart, found some plastic bits had gotten into the cooling fan causing the noise, we did a thorough clean and changed the thermal paste, and all is well. We also upgraded it with an SSD while we were at it, this would allow some new life to be instilled into this older machine.

We were grateful to have the opportunity to work with this beauty of a GPU- The Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080Ti, we refurbished her inclusive of a thorough cleaning and a change of thermal paste and pads to return her to a pristine state. This resulted in improved thermals and optimized performance. Enjoy some pictures!

Tracking of screws, cable/ribbon/flex cable positions!

This PS4 Slim Model: CUH 2215B was brought in for maintenance as its fans were starting to sound very loud, indicating thermal stress.
There are approximately fifty(50)+ screws to be removed from this unit. Furthermore the screws are of varying sizes. Invest in a magnetic screw mat or you can make a Grid to keep track of screws.

You're human, don't expect to remember the position and order of removal/replacement of these screws.

Take pictures at each stage of your teardown. Place the screws next to their corresponding holes so you can easily see the screw type. Place flex cables, ribbons in their expected positions and take pictures. These pictures would help you now and in the future if the process ever has to be repeated.

Divide each stage of the teardown into layers, for example, Power Supply removal, Board Retention Plate removal etc. This way when you are about reassemble the device you can follow the stages in reverse order.

This system was taken apart and deep cleaned, dust removed from the intake and exhaust vents and thermal paste changed to Arctic MX 5.
