📢 MEDIA RELEASE

MINISTRIES OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, AND EDUCATION, PARTNER ON "FUTURE READY TT" INITIATIVE.

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago — The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Toba-go (GORTT) has officially entered a new phase of national digital transformation. On Thursday 28th May, 2026, the Ministry of Public Administration and Artificial Intelligence (MPAAI) and the Ministry of Education (MOE), formalised a strategic partnership to roll out the FutureReadyTT initiative across the nation’s educational landscape.

The agreement aligns both Ministries for the upcoming rollout of advanced, secure enterprise artificial intelligence tools, which include ChatGPT-5 Enterprise, Grammarly Enterprise, ChatGPT EDU and Grammarly for Education. The inter-Ministerial signing ceremony took place at the MPAAI’s Conference Room, Level 14, Tower C, International Waterfront Centre.

The FutureReadyTT Programme represents a proactive leap toward building a more digitally capable and AI-literate society. Backed by the wider national digital transformation agenda outlined by Prime Minister the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, through the GORTT’s Official Policy Framework, the initiative aims to enhance writing, accelerate research activities, boost administrative efficiency and foster stronger critical thinking skills among public officers, educators and students alike.

The event’s proceedings were led by Senator the Honourable Dominic Smith, Minister of Public Administration and Artificial Intelligence, alongside Dr. the Honourable Michael Dowlath, Minister of Education. In attendance were a distinguished assembly of key technical and administrative leaders driving this national strategy, including Permanent Secretaries Cory Belfon (MPAAI), Simone Williams (MOE) and Mr. Keshore Lutchman (MOE), as well as Deputy Permanent Secre-tary of MPAAI, Sherry Ann Smith-Simmons, and Director of Schools Supervision, Michelle Carter.

Speaking on the national vision, Senator the Honourable Dominic Smith, Minister of Public Administration and Artificial Intelligence remarked: "AI has become one of the defining forces of this generation. The countries that invest in AI literacy and digital confidence today are the countries that will possess stronger workforces, stronger institutions and greater economic competitiveness tomorrow.”

He continued, “This reality places education at the centre of this national transfor-mation. The Ministry of Education, therefore, occupies a critical position within this journey be-cause schools and learning institutions are where future readiness begins."

The national rollout follows a structured pilot project undertaken by MPAAI, involving approxi-mately 550 public officers within the Ministry. For the education sector, the deployment of enter-prise-grade AI tools is set to transform both teaching and learning, with educators being better able to reduce time spent on repetitive drafting and reporting, creating more space for hands-on teaching and active student engagement.

Secondary and tertiary students will also benefit as these tools can help them develop sophisticated digital literacy, learning not just to use AI, but to critically question outputs, verify sources, identify inaccuracies and understand the ethical bound-aries of automated systems.

The FutureReadyTT initiative complements other digital public infrastructure projects led by the MPAAI and its agencies, such as the VerifyTT platform alongside iGovTT, which launched in April 2026. Effectively moving the nation away from the "brown envelope" era of manual paper-work, VerifyTT serves as a national credentials platform and secure mobile wallet, allowing citi-zens to instantly access, store and share cryptographically secured, tamper-proof official records without long lines or bureaucratic delays.

This partnership signals an unyielding commitment by the GORTT to ensure that Trinidad and Tobago does not solely react to global technological shifts, but is an active driving force. By equipping educators, public officers and students with world-class enterprise AI alongside secure digital identity frameworks, the nation is firmly positioning its citizens to compete, innovate and lead on the global stage.

As digital transformation continues reshaping societies around the world, our Honourable Minster reminds us that the conversation is no longer only about technology itself, but about the responsibility of building systems that are resilient, trusted, and centred around people.

Under the leadership of Senator the Honourable Dominic Smith, Minister of Public Administration and Artificial Intelligence, Trinidad and Tobago continues advancing a citizen-focused vision for digital transformation, one that recognises that innovation must improve lives, strengthen public trust, expand access, and create more meaningful interactions between citizens and the services they depend on.

This people-centred approach reflects a broader understanding that the true value of digital infrastructure lies not only in connectivity or automation, but in its ability to create lasting public value and support more inclusive, accessible, and resilient societies.

We are proud to welcome VerifyTT to iGovTT’s growing suite of digital services as we continue building secure, forward-thinking platforms designed around the needs of citizens and the future of Trinidad and Tobago.

In an era increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, digital systems, and constant connectivity, World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2026 reminds us that the future will not be defined by technology alone, but by the values guiding its development.

Under the leadership of the Ministry of Public Administration and Artificial Intelligence (MPAAI), Trinidad and Tobago continues to advance a vision for digital transformation rooted in trust, resilience, inclusion, and people-centered innovation.

“We are building a foundation that allows systems, institutions, and people to trust information in a digital world.” - Charles Bobb-Semple, CEO (Ag), iGovTT

“Transformation is only meaningful if it reaches everyone.” - Ria Karim, Chairman, iGovTT

At the centre of this evolving digital future must always remain people.

As Senator the Honourable Dominic Smith, Minister of Public Administration and Artificial Intelligence, reminds us:
“Our technology must never surpass our humanity.”

As Trinidad and Tobago continues its digital evolution, the focus remains clear: building technology that strengthens humanity, protects continuity, and creates lasting public value.

Monday Momentum 🙌

“This is us moving Trinidad and Tobago forward.” Reminiscing on the words of our Minister of Land and Legal Affairs, The Hon. Saddam Hosein, spoke to the importance of modernising the way critical services and records are issued, accessed and verified.

With the expansion of VerifyTT into civil records through this milestone partnership with the Registrar General’s Department under the Ministry of Land and Legal Affairs, Trinidad and Tobago is taking practical steps toward more secure, trusted, and digitally accessible public services.

Built on collaboration and enabled by technology, this is progress designed to strengthen trust across institutions and improve service delivery for citizens.

At the launch of VerifyTT, Senator the Honourable Professor Prakash Persad highlighted a challenge experienced by countless students and graduates across Trinidad and Tobago: the time, uncertainty, and inefficiency involved in verifying academic credentials.

VerifyTT changes that.

Launching first within the tertiary education sector, the platform enables secure, shareable, digitally verifiable credentials that can be instantly trusted and more easily accessed both locally and internationally.

This includes credentials issued through institutions and programmes such as:
• The University of the West Indies
• The University of Trinidad and Tobago
• YTEPP
• COSTAATT
• NESC
• LearnTT

But this is only the beginning.

VerifyTT establishes the digital trust infrastructure for a future where credentials of all kinds, academic, professional, governmental, and personal, can be securely issued, verified, held and shared.

We are proud to have launched alongside our pioneering partners in the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training as we build the future of trusted digital credentials.
